Samsung spinpoint help??

Hi i bought a samsung spinpoint 1Tb and had to run the patch 2 force it down to sata 1. tried it a s***load of time and still didnt worked. on the samsung website says last resort is 2 use a jumper. they didnt have 1 in the pack so used 1 off my dvd drive and that didnt work either.

I kno the HDD works coz i stuck it in an external case and had no problems but i need an internal drive.

any suggestions???

I dnt kno wot mobo i have but i kno its a MSI 1.

I don't think there is a jumper setting that will change speed to 1.5Gb/sec, so *** knows what that did. Anyway, the easiest way is to hook it up to someone elses' PC and apply the patch there. Many people have had this problem, the patch program doesn't always find the drive on a SATA 1 PC. To give it it's best chance, disconnect all other drives, connect the Samsung to SATA Port 0 and give it another go...

Iv returned the drive now coz i just had no luck with it. So sorry to have bothered you. but i did try what you suggested apart 4rm sticking it into a mates comp.
 
Oh and i have now bought a Seagate barracuda 1Tb and i seem to have the same issue. When i stick it in the sata ports on the mobo i get nothing. But when i plug it into my Sata controller card it picks it up so i can use it as a storage drive but id like to be able to boot from it but cnt do that when its hooked up 2 a controller card.
