Sandy 2500K Or Asus P8P67 Pro looks to be dying

dave_beast Ran that Intel test, and it's fallen over by saying my bclk is faulty, well, the test is faulty!

Dave ignore the Base Clock test Fail.. It will fail that because all motherboards seem to be slightly over the 100.

I ran the test 3 times with 3 different baseclocks! 10007, 10000 and 9993

It reported my bclk as 100 on 9993, 101 on 10000 and 103 on 10007

Simon which of these RAM sticks did you use when testing?

Patriot PC3 - 19200 2400Mhz 2x2GB @2133 9,11,9,27 also OCZ PC3 12800 1600Mhz 6,8,6,24

Also did you try 1 stick test only ?

Ok, now i've run it with bclk test disabled, and it's still fallen over

Looks to be either very good news (the test is wrong) or very bad news (the mem controllers are all borked) i'd have to guess the former.

Excellent.... Thanks Dave....

That is exactly what I get - well sometimes the second value is a big number but the actual is always 0 and it fails.
This means I'm quite happy that this CPU and Motherboard are fine.

Really appreciate your help :)

//Goes off to delete the stupid Intel test from his system LOL

Dave Fantastic :) Thank you ! You just proved now the Motherboard and CPU are working fine for Simon :) The Intel test has a bug in it that proves :)..

Simon set that pc up mate and like I said let it settle in before you overclock and please read what I said and Gibbo said before you overclock this time and never raise the Base clock from 100, never go over 1.55v on the memory, never set the cpu core higher then 1.35v and the PLL at 1.9v MAX if you value your setup.

The test has a bug in it seems ... Wait till they update it again. I was told by Intel the test is good for testing the Sandy Bridge chips but to ignore the Base clock results, seems we need to ignore the IMC results too...

Will have 5 new 2600K systems next week to test and see if I get the same results at the office. So far we proved in Simons case 1.4v on the core, raising the base clock from 100 and setting memory to 1.65v fried his previous chip.

This is what Simon did last time and ended up with a dead chip that wouldn't install windows 7 and was unstable even when set back to stock..

CPU Model Number And Batch Number (CPU's VID) = 2500K MALAY L037B155
Motherboard Make And Model Number (BIOS Version)= Asus P8P67 Pro 1053
Memory Make and Model Number= Patriot PC3 - 19200 2400Mhz 2x2GB @2133 9,11,9,27 also OCZ PC3 12800 1600Mhz 6,8,6,24
Core Voltage = 1.4v Max used
Memory Voltage = 1.65v
BCLK Base Clock = 104
PLL Voltage = Stock

So anyone overclocking take note ;)

Ok, disabled Base Clock Test and the Integrated Memory Controller test and passed but it still ran the Integrated Memory Controller stress test

So far we proved in Simons case 1.4v on the core, raising the base clock and setting memory to 1.65v fried his previous chip.

I wouldn't go that far. We have no idea which of those or all of those contributed to it. As Gibbo has posted several time, OCUK have been testing ram at 1.65v prime for over a day with no problems at all.

It's entirely possible it was a faulty chip in the first place and that the addition of sticking some volts up it caused it to fail. It was going to do that anyway.

I would also add to the mix that I did try the Asus 1053 Beta bios which includes some PLL overvolting to help D2 stepping CPU's overclock. This may be another factor, maybe combined with the others.

I rolled back to the last official 1003 before inserting this new chip.

I want to see what Overclockers say when they test it

It's only going back tomorrow, so they wont get it back to test until Thursday. I waited to send it back until i had confirmed that it was the chip and not the Motherboard. I have an RMA for both.

The guy's at OCUK have been brilliant i have to say.
Combined with the user support on the forum I could not have asked for more.
