Sapphire AMD Deals

You can’t generalise due to the silicone lottery. RDNA 2 UVs well but you could get a stinker. Where the likes of the pulse gets better overhead is mostly due to the better cooling. The MBA cards have very good cooling but AMD gave their board partners some overhead to create even better cooling and power delivery solutions.

The opposite tends to be true on the 4090 due to the excellent FE coolers being better than many of the AIB stuff.

Mine undervolted to 1034mv and Core OC to 2.9ghz with 2650mhz mem OC. Power is about 260-280w. Still a small power saving for less heat. Max junction temps are 83C with max 75% fans at 75C junction temps.

Thanks. What is the stock voltage?

Is the FE cooler generally considered better than the AIB ones then? Reviews usually show it at the warmer and nosier end.

I think the AIB cards are better for cooling and overclocking. MBA is worse than Nvidia FE for cooling and (probably) looks.

Stock voltage is 1100mv I think?

Not to hijack thread but thought be good place to ask.

Thinking about the Asus tuf 7900xtx, little bit cheaper than the nitro while being very similar, reviews make it out to be a good choice but there doesn't seem to be much user pickup. Anything to watch out for other than the card size?, can't find anything negative about the card.

Been awhile since buying PSU, we have the Corsair brand but I'm seeing new types and bit confused what's needed, anyone give any recommendations for a 1000w for the xtx?, any will do just to see what type I need. Thanks!.

I'm using a TUF 7900 XTX atm, it's excellent. Cooler is superb, very quiet and absolutely massive.

Here it is running Cyberpunk 4K RT Ultra at 100% fan speed.

Min recommended PSU is 800W-850W for XTX.

Don't give up on it the second something is different than what you had with nvidia. AMD is imo a much friendlier user experience.

I'm currently on Nvidia and I swear every time I check the driver settings/control panel I feel like I'm back in 2001. AMD is far, far better in that particular regard in my opinion.

For those making the switch, it's probably worth running a driver cleaner to make sure there aren't any remnants of Nvidia software left behind to cause conflicts.

It’s undoubtedly a better GPU than the XT but not for £200 extra. The 7900XT is a very capable GPU at this price and the Pulse will overclock to 4080 speeds as it can give an extra 10% - 12% performance with some OC and undervolt.

Before someone says the 4080 overclocks as well, you can get maybe half the OC a 7900XT gives if lucky. I have a 4080 FE and decided overclocking for max 5% was pointless.
My thanks for the answer, but I've resolved the issue another way. I've fired up the next set of games I'm going to play (mass effect legendary edition) and the first 15 minutes of each ran at a vsync limit of 100fps.

Turns out that my old 2060 will manage it... and by the time I finish ME, end to end, either the next generation will be out, prices will drop more or my _next_ game will be... low effort? Not demanding?

The drivers are not doing so great the past few months now. If you check out the nvidia thread for it people regularly rolling back through something breaking (unless play safe with a studio version).

The last time I updated mine was during the final D4 beta weekend, and that was only because the game wouldn't launch otherwise.

Was waiting on the 7900xt going below £700 before buying so pulled the trigger today, had gibbo said when they are coming in?

I tried again earlier and it stated free delivery now to Northern Ireland, so I pulled the trigger. I always felt the 7900 XT was a £650 to £700 GPU given the previous 6800 XT pricing.

I believe Gibbo said the end of next week to arrive with them but don’t hold me to that. You then need to add processing and delivery to customers.

I got lucky with a £650 3080FE drop not long after release. So this price is right in line with previous gen prices with a measurable performance uplift. The fact I was 100% certain to buy Starfield on release helps push the GPU to even better price/perf considering UK inflation.

This will be for my son’s PC and I can look at selling on his 6700 XT. I already have a 4080 I bought used from a friend for £900.

Anyone pre-ordering gets that order and price honoured, irrelevant of what happens to the rate, so pre-order in confidence and hopefully by next weekend you will all have your nice new shiny AMD card. :)

Hi there

Just a last minute update from Sapphire, all cards have shipped except the 6700 XT, these are due to ship from Hong Kong around July 29th, as such we expect to take delivery around first week of August as goods are been air freighted.

Do you think the RT is worth the performance hit? I won't be using it anyway with a 6700XT but I look at comparisons and can't really tell the difference between RT on and off.
