** SAPPHIRE CUSTOM 290's ARE ON THE WAY!! **

Gibbo, would you and or 8Pack do a review on one or two of the AIB custom 290/X?

Were all a bit to busy at present, otherwise we'd be testing them today.

I've given 8 Pack a 780Ti Classified from our stock, he shall play with that next, any 290/X testing on custom cards will have to wait until new year now sorry.

Just because of price i would get the 290x. Mantle and true audio to me are also more exciting than g-sync.

Well as of February next year, they won't be able too. It would seem the DSR law has being abused by too many, as such now the government is changing the DSR rules to favour the reseller more. DSR will now only allow you the same as you would if buying in-store, the moment you open and use the product the reseller can legally charge a re-stocking fee as of February-March next year, not 100% sure of the dates, but is what we've heard this week about DSR regulations being changed.

I think that's fair enough. I'm sure you'll make customers aware beforehand just how much the re-stocking fee is.

Does anyone know how much power these cards will use when i'm on the internet? I'm hoping they power right down, by the look of it, the Sapphire 290 Tri-X is going to use about double my 7850 when gaming, but actually less than the 280X Toxic I almost bought.

I'd love to pull the trigger on one of these or any of the custom cooled 290/290X cards but they all seem to be on pre-order. Gibbo is mid Jan the best we can hope for? Quite a long time to wait but I would like a non-ref high end AMD GPU to replace my 7990.

From what I have seen in the reviews of the non ref 290Xs, I would want to hold out for an Asus one when it hits the shelves in January, at least you can use GPU Tweak on it and give it some volts for overclocking.:D

The downside is you get to use GPU Tweak on it.:D

It might be worth waiting for a 290x windforce OC review to compare with a gtx 780 ty. In addition to this you'll want to consider if you want nVidias features or amd's mantle which everyone has high hopes for. You won't be disappointed with either one though, both cards are beasts lol.

Just ordered myseld the 290 to compare it to the Gigabyte Windforce, which I'm not impressed with in term of its cooling performance/noise ratio (and I'm talking in an non-overclocking situation).

Should have it on Saturday and will then decide on which one is best.

Only joking, to be honest no idea, only one name rings a bell to me and its not you and I am not going to name and shame anyone, but our RMA department will no doubt have a hit list as will any other company.

But like I say, OcUK is not so fussed, why we've done nothing about it. So don't worry.

Christ, I've had tons of RMA's :p, although only one DSR of a CPU, that was a 4670K, which did clock like crap, but I was working out my instability (Which as it turned out was a duff motherboard after switching out both components)

:(

The Sapphire hasn't apparently arrived as planned, I have therefore canceled my order.

Very tempted to purchase this as I have sent my Gigabyte 780 back due to it being faulty. Any idea when they are due? As I am without a card now and need one asap!
