SAPPHIRE HD 5970 2048MB GRAPHICS CARD FOR £495.99 inc VAT

oooh

now that is tempting me
You will get little more of that price rich i'm sure ;)
Could you find out if this price will last abit longer please ?

I'm still stuck as to whether to order one of these or two 5870's :( ARGH! What do you guys think?

Well 2 5870's are meant to be faster, but the 5970 is clocked lower then the 5870. but the 5970 can be clocked to the same clocks.
maybe that will give it even more performance :D

I don't think you will notice a lot of difference in Gaming on a single monitor in the real world. i know of paper it say 5870's are faster, but for the extra money on top for 2x 5870's, would it be worth it via single monitor.
maybe others that have tried both could comform this ?

The cheapest (one's that are in stock) is the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870 "AVP Edition.
So 2 of these will cost you £639.98 + postage, as you dont yet qualify for free shipping.

Where as the Sapphire 5970 will cost £495.99. nice price at the mo!! but can get better ;)

An extra £143.99 more if you went for 2 5870's
I would go with the 5970, unless you have money to burn ;)
I might go for the 5970 myself, and intime add a 5870 like a lot have done, coz we're mad :p. i need more power.
The 5850 just don't cut for me

Damn you! You make complete sense! And now I've got it in my head to order a 5870 in the next couple months aswell! :) I'm not sure if I should hate you or love you!

Well my missus won't be happy lol
End of the day, it's you're money, so you're call.
Would like to know if someone on here tried both ways, and found any difference in gaming on a single screen.

Hello Up2nogooduk.

I have owned a 5870 crossfired system. The system which Richard built for me, I specced out a 5970. First Class installation.

I would go for a 5970 over a crossfired 5870 system. The way I see it, its better than a 5870 crossfired system. The ATI drivers are absolutely fine as well.

Buy it.

I got it about 2 hours ago. It's sat next to me on my desk at work. And yes, it's ******* HUGE! :) Can't wait to get it home. :D

I'm not able to test it until the weekend unfortunately. :(

Hello mate. did you get the 5970 OC one, that has redline and overclock on the box ? and say's 735 core under GPU-Z ?

well i didn't lol.
They sent me the standard one, and core is at 725 not 735. :D
Tut Tut O/C LOL

I think I got the same as you mate. I can't test it yet as I am waiting for a new case to arrive to actually TAKE the card ;) I can't see any redline or OC on the box though.

That mean's you havn't got the OC one also
As im within the 7 days, i want it replaced with the OC.:D

I imagine due to the price and popularity because of that, they might be out of OC, in which case you're probably left with a refund or keep it :) I'm not too fussed but I will take it up with them.

If that's the case, they should change it to what there selling on there website. they tend to do these kinds of things, which isn't right in my eyes.

If it clocked ok i'd be happy. but it wont move 5mhz. the screen goes nuts..
put my 5850 in, thats fine... so must have got a dud :p
On stock tho, it's such a great performer via 1920x1200. best card i've owned.
