SAPPHIRE RX 480 NITRO NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (WORLD FIRST) !!!

I got absolutely destroyed by my customs with my card coming in. My government website said this about the tax on incoming items
"The transaction value is the price paid or payable for the imported goods, with certain additions and deductions... Possible deductions include:Overseas freight and insurance charges (to the extent that they are included in the price paid or payable) are deducted to establish the transaction value. "

And there is also a rule that if the total tax is under a certain amount(£30ish) it is waived.
Turns out that you still get taxed on the shipping costs, even though it is excluded from your items value when taxing your item.
This put my order £1.50 over the amount that gets waived, then they threw in another £20 fee on top of that as some kinda base add on.
Not only that, if they used the actual value of the pound now, it would have been under, but they use the value from when I paid. RIP my bank account, this was already a big purchase for me.
My importing endeavor did not go well.

And here I swapped to a 470 and paid almost 270 for it because of my sad sob story above. Was still trying to recover from the initial purchase when the tax man slapped me.

Still on the fence about ordering an XFX ref 4GB for £17 cheaper than the Sapphire 4GB Nitro... At least the blower style gets the heat out of the case rather than warming the CPU etc... Although my case is quite big and have a few 120mm case fans so shouldn't be a problem and a new Hyper 212x installed to keep my 4690k chilly.

1st world problems :D

Asked on the chances of getting card tomorrow, ordered Monday, on there facebook response below

Hi xxxxx, Yes we are expecting a delivery of cards tomorrow however we do have a very high volume of pre orders for the card so if you have only ordered one this week it's unlikely that you will get one from this batch. If you require a card urgently I would recommend choosing an alternative option.

My advice is keep a close eye on other retailers websites as some appear to be expecting a delivery on 12th August as well. As OCUK took pre-orders they will struggle to supply anyone ordering now but other retailers didn't take pre-orders so it will be a mad scramble when they get stock.

I was told on the phone that if they get what they asked for everyone will get their card soon, but they're not hopeful that they'll get 1000-odd cards required.

Unless you get a firm ETA on that reference XFX 4GB before ordering it, I think you can consider that an imaginary graphics card. With the 4 GB --> 8 GB firmware flashing going on the 4 GB reference designs are near impossible to get anywhere. AFAIK, no purely 4 GB ref cards have been produced, only gimped 8 GB ref cards, so I wonder if the RX 480 will even come in a 4 GB reference in future or whether only non-ref designs will be available.

This is speculation -- I don't have any inside knowledge -- but I've had a pre-order in on a 4 GB ref XFX from another supplier for a few weeks and watched their expected shipment sizes go down to 15 cards, then 2 cards,...

I'm gonna hold out on the hope to get one , I've contacted scan in advance who basically said the same thing , if I don't get from the pre-order I'll try to find elsewhere otherwise I'll Haft to go with a different model as I need one asap my current having just died on me , don't know what worth while alternate will be though
