Im looking for a sat nav but there are so many i dont know which to pick?

can you advise, im looking to spend upto £150... i dont need extra features such as bluetooth, music player, etc. i would just like one to get me to A to B easily.

Thanks,
Confused..

Nuvi 200 or TomTom 1 v3 if you want UK mapping

or

Nuvi 250 or TomTom 1 v3 Europe if you want European mapping too.

If you are new to Sat Navs it doesn't really matter which brand you buy, they are both as easy as each other to use.

The Garmins have more accurate mapping as they actually drive the roads to develop their maps. Whereas TomTom use satellite pictures, so smaller roads are sometimes missed off.

There's not much point in buying the latest unit versions... ie TomTom 1 v4's or 205's, 255's as the differences are only really software. Eg. The Nuvi 200 can hold 500 favorite places as oppose to the 205's 1000. The differences don't really warrant the difference in price in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Get the TomTom 520 for about £150, high spec unit, has bluetooth, text to speech, voice entry, can add traffic for £20 and works really well. Much higher spec than either then TomTom 1 or the Garmin.

Maybe so. But if he doesn't want all of those features then why spend the extra when he can get a SatNav that would suit his needs perfectly for £90

TomTom 1 v3 for £105 inc traffic receiver and £10 of accessories or TomTom One XL (Widescreen) inc traffic receiver for £127 (both prices delivered)

They have the Navigon 2100Max for £99 which is a damn good unit for the money. It doesn't have bluetooth, but things like traffic can be added for a one off fee of £40, test to speech for £15 and also they have been running a voucher in the box which gets you 2 years worth of map updates for about £20.

I'm looking at a Navman unit at the moment, I don't like the Garmin UI and the TomTom's seem overpriced compared to other brands. Having said that, the TomTom units are very easy to use.

I used the Nuvi 250W over the weekend.

I prefer the Tomtom how you can see everything (speed, distance) etc on one screen but the bottom right button on the Nuvi is great as it shows the next junction or turning in its map detail rather than TomToms rough direction but it does require to press the button along with seeing the dash with distance remaining and trip info needing a press of another part od the screen. Also the nuvi only gives you the option to detour whereas Tomtom allows you to avoid specific roads, far more useful than a random detour. TomTome is much easier to bring up the overview of your totaly journey, with the Nuvi you have to zoom out manually.

It would have to be a tomtom One if I were buying one.

I did something quite sad with my new tomtom. I replaced the default voice with my girlfriend's voice! SHe wasn't too chuffed at having to read out 50 or so commands but it sounds good!

Thats why the navigon 2100max with the fresh maps upgrade is so good value. You can also add things like text to speech and tmc with just an upgrade from the website.
