sata cables

Electrically they're all the same however some newer cables have a small metal spring as part of the connector which is used to reduce the likelihood of the cable coming loose. This does not require a special connector on the devices though so is compatible with all existing devices.

eSATA (external SATA) however does use a different cable and connector.

Yup, "SATA II" just allows up to 3Gb/s and has other features like NCQ. There is only one type of sata cable.

<edit> aswell as the e-sata cable which rpstewart mentions ;)
