sata controller

I'm looking at installing a large disk (maybe 2) in an old P4 system (no sata, only ide slots).

Will the sata adapator card, eg. Adaptec AAR-1220SA PCI-Express x1 2-Port SATA-II RAID Controller allow basic use of the disks? I'm not interested in RAID or JBOD. Just purely to use as seperate disks on a fileserver.

If you just want to add extra disks to an old PC then there's no point in paying for an Adaptec card when any old £10 SATA card will do. Also you'll probably need a PCI one rather than a PCIe one.

Good point! I'm guessing OCUK don't sell these as I can't find any!
