SATA drivers?

Can SATA drivers be selected from a second CD drive while installing windows? Just wondering whether if a spare drive was installed instead, you could just point it to the original CD to check for the drivers...?

Is there a way round installing the drivers?

EG, installing Windows XP on a second HDD (IDE), plugging the SATA in as a second drive, and then instaling XP on that one and remove the IDE? Would that work?

Cheers.

Argh i've had it with this.

Keeps alternating between saying theres no supported files on the floppy, or that theres an error on the Windows CD.

Selling this and going for an IDE drive, a lot LESS hassle.

Seems such a shame your having loads of problems, i cant download the whole CD you are using to have a look. Ive looked all over their driver page for your machine, and it doesnt mention the Sata drivers anywhere :(

Ive looked all over the net for help on this, and i cant see any anywhere :/ Running out of things to suggest! Other than you making an ISO out of the CD and hosting it somewhere i can download, and have a look!

Depending how long you have had the drive, you might not lose much money on it, i do have a spare WD 250gb IDE drive, but there is no warranty left, or we could have swapped with a little cash on my part!

im having exactly the same problem with samsung spinpoint 160gb. No matter what sata drivers i put on the floppy disk it doesnt do anything and im really sick and tired of this now so my question is this........do you have to go through all this No Swearing, Big Kev with an IDE Hard disk or does windows setup automatically detect it!

Swear word deleted - sorry if i caused offence :)

IDE is fine, you need no drivers.

Just to clear up as well, the drivers are for Windows to see the Sata Controller on the motherboard, not for the drive itself.

It might be called Raid controller driver or something similar

Oh and Getcarter your sig needs to be a maximum of 4 lines and you have a sweary in your post :p

Sorry about the swear word but i was a little emotional

Yes you actually have to go back and change it :p

Also, your sig is totally illegal and must be reduced to 4 lines to avoid being taken in to the sig jail.

Oh its still taking up 5 lines do u think i will get away with it

No, it's still not allowed. Take out the HDD's, Windows and the DVD-R as they're the least important :p

Yes mate, it is.

I've made the disk with the program on the CD-ROM, when it comes to Windows it just says no supported files found, or gives an error message.

I've tried putting all the files on the home directory of the floppy, instead of how the disk creates them and still nothing.

My other PC is also not letting me transfer photos from my camera on to the computer. Really sick of technology this week!

I've never EVER had to do this :/

And I've installed Xp Pro loads with 2 different SATA drives

Never had any problems either
