SATA NAS or other solutions....

I'm thinking about getting a Mac soon, as i seem to spend almost no time playing games anymore and i feel like trying out OSX. Thing is i would like to still have a PC running as well, but it would be quite handy to keep all my music and data in some type of NAS solution so that i could access them from whatever system i was on at the time.

There does'nt seem to be a great deal of choice around in this area unfortunately, the Netgear SC 101 is the kind of thing i am looking for, but it's IDE only which is no good to me. There also seem to be a bunch of ready built products with HDD's already installed, but seeing as i have a decent sized RAID setup as is, it seems like a waste of money going for one of those.

Can anyone recommend me a decent system that will accept SATA drives? I don't really mind what interface it is (Firewire/USB etc..), because speed is'nt a huge issue, i just want soemthing that will be simple to use and reliable.

Thanks for any help.

That's why i said '..or other solutions'. I don't mind if it's NAS/DAS/whatever, it just has to be able to hold at least 2 SATA drives and support RAID 1 at minimum.

Since my first post i found some reviews of the Thecus 2050 and 2100, but the enclosures look a bit cheap and they are supposed to be a bit on the noisy side. Other than that they look quite good, there must be other alternatives around though.

I have a Synology 101J (IDE) NAS although you can get the 106 series which is SATA. I love it to bits. I can share data with my Linux machine, my Windows machine, my laptops and my wife's Mac. Tonight I'm going to format and reinstall everything on my dual boot Linux/Windows PC so I'm backing everything up on my NAS. It's great. I wouldn't be without it now.

It's a little slower than a directly attached device of course.
