SATA or not?

Pardon my ignorance folks.
I upgrade my pc regularly, but always on the motherboard/cpu/video card route. Im just really after fps increases in games, particularly CSS.
Im just about to upgrade (again!) and Ive noticed that I havent upgraded my hard drive in years. Its a regular old fashioned ide drive , works fine, has never given me any trouble.
The question is, were I to replace it for a SATA unit, as my motherboards have been compatable for the last 2 or 3 that Ive had, would I get any performance increase (in terms of FPS), or if not, what benefits would I get?
Thanks for any help :)

You won't see any performance increase in terms of fps but you probably will see an improvement in general performance - boot times etc. Maybe not a huge amount but some improvement due to the better transfer rate of newer drives. This improvement isn't going to be due to going to SATA but simply from improvements in HDD design.
