sata problems (nvidia +silicon image)

lo guys, i have a bit of a problem, it has been with me for a while now but has only just become an issue

Mobo = gigabyte k8nsnxp 939
cpu a3500 120nm
hd 2*160gb hitachi deskstar 1*maxtor dimond max 10. 1*150gb wd raptor


basicly just got the raptor and decided to use that as my windows boot drive which should have been simple enough but... my mobo has 4 sata conection (1.5gbs) it seem like 2 are nvidia and 2 are silicon image, windows is happy to recognise the 2 on the nvidia controler but not the silicon image 2.

was hapy like this before because i could install the silicon image drivers post windows and would run the 300gb fine.

am geusing that am going to have to install some 3rd party raid drivers to get it to recognise these but it seems my floppy drive has gone "pete tong" and wont let me format any discs(no not protected) is it possible to install these drivers from cd?

Does the raptor need the 3rd part drivers during installation of windows for full potential? if not i cant see any reason for not just swaping it to the nvidia controller?

any help would be greatly appericiated

no specisific option for that is avalible, tho all things to do with sata are enabled.

the drives of the si controller work in windows so i think it must be :P

I'm not sure of the method 100% so you'll have to Google it, but slipstreaming the drivers on to the XP CD should mean XP Setup finds your raptor during setup. You can also slipstream all the latest XP Windows Updates as well, so it's worth doing.

Other than that the only thing you can do is replace the floppy drive as XP setup won't take drivers from anywhere else for some strange reason :(
