Sausage tycoon fined for Ferrari parked across two parking places

What kind of Ferrari is it? Can't see it being 2.4 metres wide. Probably not wider than a Range Rover.
I think it's a California T in the picture, which is 1.92m wide.
What if the carpark was full, and him taking 2 spaces prevented another
I agree that buying two places does legitimise his parking. But as Skiddley points out, it does set a precedent. I don't need sausage tycoons renting out my gym car park..

Knowing he paid for two tickets I don't have a problem, but if I'm trying to find a place to park and I saw it I'd be thinking what a ******. There's also the argument that while he paid for two tickets he still denied another customer to the shopping centre, causing a loss in revenue despite his claim of causing no financial damage.

It cost me £500 to fix damage to my car that someone else caused in public parking. If I had a car where the damage would cost even more, such as the Ferrari, I'd absolutely park in two bays with two tickets.

I used to think the fancy cars in two bays were arrogant. Then I realised how little other people care about anyone elses property, and how expensive it can be.

Then I realised how little other people care about anyone elses property, and how expensive it can be.

It's really sad how true that is :(. I had a similar cost to get my door fixed when someone parked next to me and threw their door open. I was sat in the car at the time and his only reaction to my protest was "so what?" and walked off.

I parked up at a Tesco and an old lady knocked my wing mirror back with her trolley slowly, knocked it back and forth a few times and then opened her car door into my car.

I was so shocked my girlfriend reacted in heated words before i could even close my mouth. This wasn't during a particularly busy time, it was 7am on a Thursday at the back of the carpark and there were spaces EVERYWHERE around us to get her trolley to where she wanted it. She obviously did not mean to but if she had that little care and attention walking with a trolley, i can't imagine she suddenly gains care and attention when behind the wheel.

I am not sure the using up a space for someone else argument holds much weight legally. Unless they specifically word it somewhere in the T+C that only one person can only use one space. Morally perhaps is a more open argument.

It may however act as a test case for such an argument, on the basis that Ferrari man might just be willing, and able to take it that far :D Then a legal precedent will be set, and car parks might want to add this to the T+C going forward.

You can argue that a man who owns a Ferrari will probably spend more at a shopping centre than two teenagers with Polos, driving into hang out in Maccy D's:p

What if the carpark was full, and him taking 2 spaces prevented another (pregnant, OAP etc) from finding a space?

what if it does? pregnant or OAP don't particularly deserve any preferential treatment [don't get me started on Tesco's "parent and child" premium spaces] so they are liable to the same issue as the rest of us - spaces are first come, first served. i agree it might be irking if you turned up and found this guy parked like that, but on the other hand, i've turned up and found an empty space but it was next to a [IIRC] huge ****** Dodge that went right up to the bay lines, meaning if i parked there, he'd have about 3" ot open his door and squeeze in, which would virtually guarantee me having some kind of damage, so that space went unused and i had to look further.
as long as the guy pays for what he's using, i'd say he's entitled to use as many spaces as he wants. as i said previously, if cars weren't continually getting bigger, or bays continually getting smaller [or both] this wouldn't be an issue, but so many places now shrink things to get most possible use of the land, it causes problems like this. it's the same as new houses having garages that are still catering to car sizes from the fricking 1970s or such, hence so many garages going empty and cars parking on the kerbs and choking up estate roads.

he would've come back to find a bootprint in two of his doors if he'd taken that attitude w/ me.

Carry inflatable cars or cones. Pay for 3 tickets and park correctly in the middle one !
I do sympathise with him and have my own arrogant arsewipe tales a plenty.

One particular one was xmas time a few years back I was sitting in my car waiting for the missus to return. Being Xmas it was chocka block and the only other empty space was next to me....
Cue doddering old dude in a Volvo 740 estate. He approached and stopped.
I thought "sensible dude - Letting his Missus alight before parking" But no. He then drove right tight up to my drivers door (I always reverse into bays) to give his wife max room to open her door.
I thought ok, he must be going to sit in his car like I am. Bit weird having someone THAT close next to you but whatever.
Oh no... BANG ! he opened his door into mine. Then BANG BANG BANG as he struggled to get out. I was actually Gobsmacked as he must've seen me sitting in mine. Then the piste de resistance as he folded my mirror round squeezing passed.

I opened my window and angrily shouted "If you've dented my door I'm going to dent your face" !
He swung around and started apologising profusely.
Miraculously there was no damage but that was probably because my door is Dynamatted.

A parking fine shouldn't really matter because it save saves the doors from being hit by other drivers if you're taking up two parking spots. I'd take a fine than a door repair bill, depending on what car I have. Currently, neither. Hehe.

People do this because they don't want their paintworked bashed by some land whale trying to squeeze through the gap in to their own car. Or just generally inconsiderate people, who seem to be everywhere now.
