Sausages, should I eat them?

Hi.

I've got some sausages, I had 4 yesterday and the use by is 25th April, it's the 26th April, will the remaining 4 be ok?

Sorry for this DVDbunny style thread but I need to know, no one else I ask seems to know as they dont eat sausages

Sausages last ages, the BBE dates are a bit conservative, you can eat them for a good few days after the date expires. Like most common meats, if sausages look/smell ok, they they usually are. You can usually see/taste/smell something "wrong" right way.

They will be fine, the lifetime of food is not exact. I generally go by the theory that if it looks and smells fine then it's safe to eat.

fyi supermarkets use a sell by dates as well as consume by dates, these are usually a week under estimates
