Quick query and probably a stupid question but I've had a quick look around on the web and there seems to be a conflict of information, I've overclocked my CPU in the BIOS and I'm planning on re-installing windows and I'm just wondering whether it'll be fine to re-install with the CPU overclocked or whether I should revert it back to default? Some people say its fine to keep it overclocked and others are saying its better to default it back, so I'm a little unsure.

Or just save your current settings to a bios profile in the bios.

Then reset bios to default and install windows at stock bios.

Then load your custom settings once you're up and running.

That's probably the proper way to do it.

i have installed windows 10 on an overclocked chip and i haven't noticed anything different, windows detects the type of chip and not so much the speed, if i am correct i dont believe it can validate the cpu speed to see if it is overclocked or not. Maybe previous version had problem but since a lot of systems now have this step-up built in the chip i guess the system would think it is what it is.

Thanks both for the replies, I went ahead and took the risk of re-installing with the overclock in place and everything has gone as smoothly as possible :)

I feel privileged that the almighty 8 Pack has commented on my post :p I ran the overclock prior for about two years (give or take) stable, just glad everything went smoothly :)
