Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

There's an Axel VPP event at 18:00 - 19:00 and then this from 19:00 - 20:00 so Im out of this one. I could just about manage the battery for both, but Im unsure how doing consecutive hours with different companies would go down.

I’m new to all this, but they are entirely independent, so just do your own thing.. if you can do both, do both..

OK, this is complicated..
So Octopus say if you are on IOG you can't sign up to Axle..

Axle say you can sign up but can't participate in Octoplus saving sessions..

Whats the score? I'm on IoG, and signed up to octoplus and am doing their sessions via predbat, but are people dipping in to both?

Technically, you can’t do both.

Technically IOG is a kind of DFS service and your MPAN is being bid into the system for this tariff and ofgem only allow your MPAN to be used once.

However, that doesn’t mean you’ll get kicked off the tariff and other people have had some success. That doesn’t mean they won’t crack down at some point in the future as they have done with IOG abusers.

Just to add a bit more info.

If you do this then you are breaking the terms and conditions of the product/service you signed up to if you're on IOG and any other "DFS" scheme. This is one of the few instances where the back-billing rules do not apply. Octopus could back-bill you at SVR for the entirety of your usage and you wouldn't have a leg to stand on legally.

Chances of happening, probably vanishingly small.

You are going to get "caught" at some point because your MPAN will get flagged for multiple signups.

Yeah predbat signed me up..

Still thinking these are almost a waste of time, my 'baseline' showing in the octopus integration in Home Assistant is 0kWh.. and they still have calc'd mine from the 10th and 11th despite having all the data from my smart meter up until yesterday..

I'm obviously quite impatient!

Hey all
I've just signed up for Axle VPP as finally received an export MPAN (Octopus Go import as don't have a smart charger / car), and agile export

I've been reading on this thread that IOG and axle VPP aren't allowed. Am I allowed to be on regular octopus go with VPP?

It depends on your solar production to battery storage ratio.

Most people are better off with a flat rate export tariff.

Don’t forget with EDF you get an extra hour of off peak.

Octopus don't seem to really care. Just make sure you don't double book for a session, that's a no-no.

Does anyone know, you need to do 2 savings sessions in a week to get your free hour on the weekend.

So is there any point in doing more than 2? Or if you do say 4 in one week, you can then have 2 hours, or otherwise banked?

You can do both, you can use 1 or 2 tokens per week, and save them up to use later (last event is 1st Nov)
