SB-E [C2] Stepping

http://hwbot.org/newsflash/1599_intel_core_i7_3930k_c2_stepping_(qbv9)
http://www.pt1t.eu/?p=494

Apparently the C2 stepping will have QBV9 etched on the surface, should be straightforward to tell them apart

(Unconfirmed)

Note quite, an QXXX s-spec codes are used only for engineering samples. According to the product change notification PDF in the OP, QBV9 is the S-Spec of the C-2 3930K qualification samples. The S-SPEC etched on the retail processors will be SR0KY.

It is a bit vague at the moment as OCUK don't have stock so can't say what stepping the new arrivals will be when they come in
As I have the money, I was tempted just to order now, but was advised that this would be a bad idea as the wharehouse will ship the order as soon as the cpu's come in, and no-one would be able to check what the stepping was and make sure I get the correct C2 version

Will update if I hear more

I'm quoting rjkoneill from the watercooling thread which was made last night

My stock landed today but I have been busy setting up tech labs stuff and in meetings :(

They will be on the website tomorrow, expect an announcement thread from me.

Also, expect very surprising prices ;)

... maybe reading too much into it but could be part of the stock?

Seeing some more speculation

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1374207&mpage=1

and a possible name change to 3939k???

yea I saw this too! Could explain why some competitors including OCUK are just flat out of stock.

It will probably come with a gagging order in that case ... which explains the silence

Thanks for the info

Surely he is talking about w/c gear, but we can hope...
If you can link to the thread, it would be appreciated as Im at work so have to be a bit careful..

I rang this morning and they also said hopefully next week.

I'm doing two identical builds, one with a 3960X and one with a 3930K. I'm hoping to OC both past 4.5GHz. It'll be interesting to see IF I get a C-2 3930K if it OC's better than a C-1 3960X...

I'm getting the X tomorrow, VERY EXCITED to see what it can do (-:

Good spot
Makes me wonder if the rumours around a name change to 3939K are true then?
maybe there will be a new entry soon, just hoping it stays at 499 or below and not some silly price premium..

I've been hitting F5 all day lol (sad)

You are probably right, at least we'll know it should definitely be the new revision i guess? Although OCUK are pretty good with stuff like that anyways huh!

I think the 3939K was a typo, and that the original author didn't check for typos before copying the first entry. Simple mistake to make, pressing "9" instead of "0" :)

If the name were changing, I would think that 3935K or 3940K would be more likely. Just an opinion though (plus that is the only place I have seen 3939K mentioned - even posts I have seen from people with samples only call it 3930K )

And going by this logic the 3960X should be replaced by 3939X.
