My i7 920 D0 is doing great for gaming. But for video editing, I think 6 cores is what I need...but paying £500? Yowzers. Think I will wait for the other batch to arrive. Am I right in assuming that these are the only two 6 core chips Intel are making in the 2011 range? Or are we due more with better pricing?

This is it, there might be ivy bridge extreme 6 cores but theyll be a long way off and not any cheaper.

For gaming im gonna stick with my 2600k at them prices! maybe next year but then Ivy bridge will be out and that will put a spanner in the works!

I dont need the cores but my i7 920 is causing me a few issues.

i simply cannot overclock it anymore. This is probably due to the replacement rampage 2 extreme mobo i have as i had no problems with my original mobo.

I play BF3 @ 2560 x 1440 and with the cpu running at 2.66 its killing my performance. Any form of overclock results in blue screens now i think i will retire my X58 setup to the vmware testbed in my spare room and get a 2700k.
