Hi guys,

My girlf surprised me this morning by telling me that she had booked and paid for, a two person trip to the Maldives leaving 10th May - all inclusive.

Now this is all good but its looking like im going to have to break it to her that im really scared of flying.

Ive flown 2 or three times before for about 4 maybe five hours a time. However the last time i felw, i was really really scared for some reason and i cant shake the fear.

A flight to the Maldives takes 10hours..............

I need help here really, ill take sleeping tablets etc but any advice would be really nice. Im gonna go tell her now lol.

Man up, don't be afraid, flying isn't scary. It's one of the safest ways to travel.

What exactly are you scared about? Crashing?

get your self to the docs if your really worried about it mate
my good lady did both times we went to south africa, as got hold of some diazipan tabs
amazing things, pop on in as you board plane, 20 mins later your uber chilled / asleep
like justin said its the safest way to travel, i build airbus planes for a living, you will be safe on both beoing or airbus. just think of that white sand and sexy women in nice bikini's

ooooh im on 999 posts

Crossing the road, travelling by Car and a lot of other things are FAR more dangerous.

Show some balls man (well, not literally please)

Anybody else thinking of B.A. and the A-Team? :D

Learning some simple yoga breathing exercises designed for de-stressing, etc. helped for a friend. They were still scared but it allowed them to manage the panic.

Flying in the main is actually incredibly safe, I reccomend looking at some flying (cockpit point of view) videos from youtube and you can see just how considered and double checked everything is and how much margin for error they allow. Coming into land is actually incredibly slow from the pilots pov.
