Scared of Flying - Holiday

I fully understand this and won't actually get on a plane period, a thing which my wife now understands.

As said go and see the doc's for help for me though the only way around it is to use other forms of transport. It's not just the crashing bit for me though it's the entire claustrophobic feeling and the axiety which makes me not even able to get to the airport. The sitting around for hours beforehand plays on my mind so, for me, there is no option other than alternative transport.

My gender doesn't make any difference. My other half is just as scared of flying as I am.

It does make attempting to 'man up' that little bit trickier though... :p

I used to really enjoy flying but the more I do it the less I enjoy it and it becomes like almost any other mode of transport, simply a bit of a chore to be endured on the way to a destination. I'd still not worry about it whatever happens though, there is literally almost nothing that you as an individual can do should things go for a Burton.

I read a statistic the other day that even if you do crash you have at least a 90% survival rate or something silly like that. Somebody had added up all the plane crashes, and all of the survivors and thats how it came out.

Flying is without doubt the safest and the most exciting way to travel.

Man it up for gods sake. go and enjoy your holiday. if you crash and die on the way so be it. you could just as easily do the same on your way to work. suck it up.

Sit at the back of the plane. They very rarely reverse into hills, so you'll be further away from the crash than anyone else.

For ultra safety, find out which seat they keep the black box under. If that's the only bit they expect to get back, you want to be strapped to it.

Seriously though, if your scared your scared. Gradual exposure may lessen the feelings, but I am assured that the best way is just to have a few drinks, stick your headphones on and fall asleep. Stay up for 24 hours beforehand so you'll actually be tired, and you'll be there before you know it.

Oh, and I wish my missus would surprise me with a trip to the Maldives.

If it helps any mate just keep in mind the paradise that you are heading for. I spent my Honeymoon on an Island in the Maldives - it was absolute bliss.

To be fair you have a right to be scared. It is bloody dangerous and there is a high chance you'll be involved in some kind of accident.

I mean seriously have you SEEN the accident rates on the road? The taxi to the airport is pretty scary!

If you have any questions to ask about flying then I'm happy to answer them if it will put your mind at ease, also have the odd video from the flight deck if that will help as well. You'll be fine don't worry. I fly more then any of you haha trust me :D
