Don't know who was there first, I've always thought whoever was second shouldn't really have as strong say with certain issues because they should be made aware of them when they move in.
There's a club in Liverpool called The Blue Angel / 'Raz' which used to open its doors to a back patio area. People used to go there with their drinks for some air, or smoke or down pints and lob the glasses over the wall. This didn't matter because there was nothing over the wall, just scrap land. Somebody then bought that land and stupidly developed box houses on it, unsurprisingly the residents didn't like the noise and have complained to the point the club now has to shut its back doors.
This has annoyed the punters that smoke, or want to nip outside for a bit. It's left the club with poor air circulation so it gets hot if there are lots inside. This in turn has clearly affected business (years ago it used to be busy 5/6 days a week, now just the weekend).
The idiots here are the developers or whoever purchased the land. It's enclosed on four sides almost, with one side being the rear end of a night club.
It would hurt the clubs bottom line, but just because they got away with breaking the rules, there are noise, and behaviour rules surrounding the operation of night clubs, they were breaking the rules before, just no one caught or complained about it.
Its not hard to add AC units and ventilation, its a cheap crap tightwad owner who'd see his business go down the pan when alternatives aren't difficult to arrange. Surely if people went outside for a breather, it was already too hot in the club in the first place, opening a couple doors is a stopgap measure, not a fix. Of course, a couple extra doors, so people can go out back without letting out loud music, and people who go out for a smoke BEHAVING themselves and not smashing things and there wouldn't have been complaints in the first place.
Likewise, developed land probably pumped (depending on how big) 100k's to millions into the local economy, tax payments, tax on the profit, jobs for building and maintaining, tax on the wages of the builders, etc, etc, etc.
Wasted land being used and turned into jobs and profit and tax is FAR more important than a club owner too cheap to install proper ventilation and cooling into his business.
In terms of the school, stupid to complain, but then some playgrounds are nightmares, there are kids who will play, and make noise, and then sometimes theres kids who just scream, and keep screaming, and don't stop screaming, because they are little *****.
Even if you move into a school district, even then theres a level of noise to be expected, that doesn't infact mean the kids aren't behaving badly and being TOO noisey.
Considering how deaf most old folk are, its more likely to be some benefits scrounging idiot who took a cheap house without thinking about the consequences and its probably not "too loud" .
