Schoolboy error...

To be fair my cheap as chips MSI 870-c45 does 280 FSB which would give your chip about 4GHz, which is the absolute limit for those tri cores if you manage to unlock it. If it's a C2 version it's also very tough to get them past 3.6GHz, the multiplier won't make much difference with that chip tbh.

for some reason in the bios, I cant put more than 1.325 volts through it, which isn't enough to get the fourth core fully stable and limits the OC on the tri core to about 3ghz from a 250 bus + lower the multi. And no highr than 2250 on the NB. It's either a limitation of the chip or by the mb, I'm not really sure. Possibly the chip as I could put at least 1.4 through the athlon x2 250 it replaced.

It's the motherboard. Some don't have a fully unlocked VRM so will only set the chip voltage to V+max offset.

I have an ASUS motherboard like this. Even with a fully unlocked BE CPU it wouldn't set the volts higher than .1 over stock.

I'd keep it i reckon. That's a good price. Keep an eye on auction prices and see if it's worth selling. If you're only going to make a couple of quid I wouldn't bother. Use it as an excuse to get a shiny new z97 board for yourself and hang on to it until Broadwell. Or you could just post it to me :D

Even at stock they are fast little buggers so either way you won't be disappointed!
