Michael Schumacher is poised for a sensational return to Formula 1 with the new Mercedes team, according to BBC Sport pundit Eddie Jordan.

Mercedes want the seven-time champion as their lead driver after taking over title-winning Brawn, Jordan says.

"The possibility is being actively pursued and I believe it is going to happen," said Jordan.

Yes I know it's Eddie's thoughts but it's still :o What do you think?

I'd love to see him return, but don't feel it's very likely. I already got my hopes up last time he almost returned so this time I'm going to be all "meh" until it happens.

*crosses fingers* :)

Never going to happen, he's not going to come back as a full time driver. he might come back for an injured driver, but even that is unlikely. He is also still contacted to Ferrari although be it road cars.

I think its plausible. There have been rumours he only didn't make a return this year as he didn't want to race in a sub par car.

Imagine the media bandwagon that would create if he was not competitive. "schumacher has lost his touch" etc etc.

I think if he were to be making a come back now would be the time, rather that just being a go to man filling in somebody elses position.

It was on BBC News 24 just now, but guess that is more about viewers than it being likely to happen. They wouldn't normally mention that sort of thing.

the only schumacher i can see going to mercedes is ralf.

doubt michael would be intrested unless he knew it would be a competive car and i suspect it would be a huge gamble this year to join mercedes

Not much of a gamble. The Brawn car/team/man have shown themselves to be great and now they have Merc money and support over the winter to get things sorted for 2010. I have little doubt that the 2010 Merc is going to be a very competitive car.

Brawn is in a much better position now that he was this time last year and look what he did.
