I just started using my DELL 24" 1080p HDMI monitor that I bought for £150 to play my PS3 on. To my surprise, I actually prefer playing games on the smaller screen over my bigger "42 SONY BRAVIA HDTV.

This got me thinking, screen size really doesn't matter at all. I paid £150 for the DELL "24 screen but paid £900 for the SONY screen. The cheaper screen is actually better to game on compared to the SONY screen.

Whats your preference when gaming? Smaller screen or bigger screen?

btw, the DELL I am using has a big discussion thread RIGHT HERE

I'm the same, much prefer playing on my 20 inch NEC screen than my 42" Panasonic downstairs, I've just got used to having the screen close to me I think.

Use to game on my cheapo 19" Goodmans HDTV. Sold it, bought an LG 32LH2000, returned it because of motion blur issues and just stuck to my 42" Panasonic PX80 plasma downstairs. Love it now on the big screen, looks brilliant. Crazy the difference between a cheap and good screen makes.

When my Panasonic broke, I bought a 1080p LG TV after reading about it here. It was 23". In no way did I prefer it to my Panasonic 42". I just just couldn't cope having to sit so close.

My brother's best killstreak is on my MW2/PSN of 35 which he just cannot beat at home on his 32" - he attributes his success to the bigger screen.

I'm exactly the same as the OP.
I even got the same monitor :)

The games look very nice on my 40" sony, but i just cannot engage with the game quite as well as i can on my 24" Dell.

Use to use my computer's 2407 for gaming then got a 32" HDTV. I still sit the same distance away so I prefer the TV as the size makes it much more immersive/smaller things are bigger.

Crt's. Lcd's still have too much lag for fighting games.

Is your screen old? I honestly can't see lag these days.

Lag isn't something you see, its not motion blur we are talking about here.

I like my 50" Pioneer as the motion handling is very good, but that still has 30ms of input lag apparently. A lot of PC monitors have close to zero input lag.

I sit at my desk usually to play xbox as i play it on one of my 19" pc monitors. I much much prefer it to playing on my brothers 28" LCD. However that might just be a case of getting used it but i definatly prefer sitting closer, its necessary on MW2 at least when people are hard to spot in the distance.

whys that?

I like seeing games in all there beauty, and playing SP on a big t.v allows me to do that.

I use 24" for MP as i find the the perfect size for competetive games such as COD,battlefield etc...as there is no realy need for headmovement and little eye movement, saving you precious time when taking someones head off :p

For any other game, it's fine to use my NEC 20WGX2 or my LG LC3R and I can happily switch between the 2.

Fighting game require far quicker reactions than console FPS game, and 1/60th of a second timing based on what you see on screen so for competitive offline play it genuinely does make a difference. Obviously you'd never play a competitive fighting game online unless you're messing around in which case the screen lag doesn't matter one bit as the network latency pretty much ruins the game.

Edit: Er... input lag is not screen tearing nanoman. Screen tearing is caused by the game refresh rate being higher than the displays refresh rate.

I'm using a 50" Panasonic with decent audio system at the moment in the main room and a smaller screen with TV sound elsewhere.

The sound is obviously always better on the better system, but the TV is a different story.

Basically, single player games are way better on the 50", but multiplayer I would rather sit very close to a small screen. I just get owned on Battlefield/COD on the big TV, and don't seem to have any fun playing it either for some reason.

I much prefer playing on my 40" Sony Bravia with proper surround sound sitting back on my comfy sofa. It's what consoles were made for.
