• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Screen tearing, tried a lot of combo's, still no luck!

You can swap out g-sync for ‘adaptive sync’ or ‘FreeSync’ which are (now!) effectively the same thing under different different branding.

First of all, does your monitor have an adaptive sync setting? Basically all modern monitors do. If you’re not sure, google the specs of the model of the monitor. If you’re really stuck, post the monitor model here (this would be helpful for us anyway) and we can look for you, but it should be pretty obvious from looking at your monitor’s settings and from the spec sheet.
No it doesn't. It's very old

Sure, monitor is Philips BDM4065UC

Thank you

Haha, I switch between my 4k/60hz monitor, 1080p/165hz monitor and my 4k/60hz 100 inch projector setup

I am looking at new monitors, but there's so many!

Ooof… no adaptive sync…

Well, as suggested, if you are limiting the max frame rate in NVidia Control Panel to 57fps (there is a setting for you to specify this) then also force vertical sync on in NVCP, I would have thought this would help against screen tearing.

You can still experiment with adaptive sync on your 1080p monitor… assuming at least that has an adaptive sync setting.

… perhaps treating yourself to a new delicious monitor may be something to consider :p

I haven't tried limiting the frame rate in NVCP yet! I will do it later.

Although from my testing earlier with Indiana Jones & Red Dead Redemption, when I enter a frame rate cap in RTSS that's when the tearing starts.

I will do some more testing later on to confirm this. But I don't know why that would cause tearing when it's one of the setups people recommend and they don't seem to have issues.

Haha don't tempt me! Already looking at QD-OLED's :(

anything like the video shows in there?

Also found this:

In windows does display for windows show the right refresh rate, also is it using in nvidia cp that its set to the right 4.4.4 or whatever is right for ur monitor.

Check the monitor osd controls for any sorta hz setting u can check etc.

Oh i think its a 4k 60hz monitor.

Is the smartimage thing set to game mode?

Could try their smart control premium software, i think its in here. https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/BDM4065UC_00/brilliance-led-backlit-lcd-display/support Might do something..

Specs https://www.manualslib.com/manual/866028/Philips-Brillance-Bdm4065uc.html?page=32#manual

VGA: 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz
HDMI: 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz, 2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz
DisplayPort: 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz

If u have smartresponse setting on monitor enable it for 3ms g2g vs 8.5ms g2g typical.

Since screen tearing can occur when the frames outputted are higher than the refresh rate of the monitor, that should go quite a long way to helping you out. Let us know how you get on.

Really, forget RTSS and just use NVCP.

If using that also causes tearing, then for now just use whatever configuration works best until your new QD-OLED arrives :D
