Well, a few oldies here, but better, because their beautiful and very cheap :p

Thief 3-I'm only on the 2nd level of this, but its an amazing game. Stealth used at all times, absolutely outstanding

Quake 4-Again, a brilliant game, beautiful graphics, and a fun run and gun

Doom 3-Haven't played much, but its pretty spooky and quite fun to play

FEAR-One of my fav. games of all time, scard the bejeezuz outta me, but I also enjoyed the gunfights and the special scenes.

Oblivion-One of the best graphical games out, do whatever you want in the game, and very very fun

Thats it from me, should last you a while ;)

Good luck with your £280 gaming rig then.

Even a PS3 is cheaper than a "nice gaming rig".

I'm not a console fanboy, I love my PC gaming, but I'm also not willing to be blinkered by stupid excuses such as pricing.

Well, thief 3 is 3rd person, theres also KOTOR, an RPG and Jedi knight games

cool cool cheers

the new rainbow 5 looks class what do you think? have the previous titles been anygood?

Max Payne is an exellent 3rd person shooter, and lots of good mods out for both of them.

Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory and Hitman: Blood Money are also brillant games.

As for RTS's:

C&C Decades : 11 C&C games for the price of one new game!

Dawn of War + Expansions : Pretty good warhammer game, although it didnt hold my attention aslong as the C&C games

Company of Heros : Played the demo, loved it, however may suffer same problems as DoW in longetivity (but i don't know having not played the whole game!)

Rome: Total War - Freekin excellent if you download Total Realism mod for it, and should be cheap now

Medieval 2: Total War - Also freekin excellent, awesome graphics but new game so more expensive that Rome.

You've got Max Payne down, put Max Payne 2 down as well. Equally as good.

Also GTA San Andreas is a great 3rd person game and can be had for around a tenner now.

Not really. The back of the box recommends 384mb RAM, 128mb DX9 graphics card. I can run it fine on the family pc which has an 512mb ram and an X300 graphics card.
