"Screw Working in Staines"

So true, and then you run into the sea to avoid the snakes and spiders and you're still in the proverbial faecal matter!

Ay, jump in the`water in Perth and a Great White will chew your leg off
Jump in around Cairns and the Box Jellies will sting ya to death
Further noth and the Salt water crocs will drag you under

:D
Such a nice place.

To be serious though, I spent 4 months out there travelling around, scuba diving and mountain exploring and the closest encounter I had was a bronze whaler shark circling me on a night dive.
I remember on one 4x4 excursion it came to an abrupt halt as a rare and dangerous snake was heading home across our path.
The hotel I stayed in in Cairns had moohasive spiders in some of the undergrowth, I never found out whether they were dangerous or not. They didn't try and get in the apartment so they stayed alive. :D

The wages are a lot lower over there but everything is in proportion, so if you go over with a tidy lump sum, you should be able to live quite comfortably.

Found a pic of that spidey outside the hotel. :D

No idea whether it was dangerous or not but I wasn't going to poke it and find out!!

The husband was about the size of our normal small spiders over here.

Yes, and in New Zealand. Though New Zealand has a really odd rule about giving way to someone turning right if you are turning left...

Yup, if you are about to turn left and someone coming at you wants to turn down the same street you let them go first. I guess it removes a few delays to the people behind that car.
