Kate Gibbs, of the Road Haulage Association, called for tougher sentences to act as a deterrent to those who throw things off bridges. She said: "They have no concept of the consequences of their actions."

It is unfortunate that the statement above could equally apply to some of the judges.

Judge Charles Wide said: "This is a very, very serious matter. I take into account your age but you were both old enough to know the difference between right and wrong."

So serious it's only worth a 40 month sentence, I'm sure that'll teach him!

I would be lenient due to the circumstances of his life:

10 years forced labour at something useful to society.

He should get three years in prison and then, at dawn on his eighteenth birthday, taken out and shot.

Hahaha, your posts get better every time!

But on a serious note, prison seems such a poor system anyway, especially in this case. Think of the people he will be around every day, just as bad as him most probably. How does it make sense to send someone into an environment where he will surely be influenced by others of the same nature?
Ok, it's a punishment fair enough, and the only one we can deal out, but I'd put money on the fact that he comes out of prison worse off than when he went in.

I don't know, maybe my ramblings don't make sense, maybe he will start a new leaf  ...

Bit unfair blaming the judge... He's probably constrained by law over what kind of a sentence he can actually give, on the basis that the offender is just a kid.

I hope he gets his comeuppance.

If it were up to me I'd give him the same pleasure.. breeze block to the face.
