Hi,

I am thinking of getting this http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-035-OC

a few question questions:

- is there anything else that i will need to install this drive, i.e. cables, tray etc, that does not come with the "box"

I got this set up:

Power Supply: Antec True Power Trio 650W
Processor: Core 2 Quad Q6600 8MB cache
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Golden Orb Cooler
Graphics Card 1: BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB PCI Express
Graphics Card 2: BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB PCI Express
Memory: 4GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 Twin2X
Motherboard: Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus Socket 775
Hard Disk Drive One: 320GB Caviar SE16 SATA 300
Hard Disk Drive Two: 320GB Caviar SE16 SATA 300
Optical Drive One: BTC DVD-Rom x16
Optical Drive Two: NEC 4570A DVD-RW

- can my power supply handle this?

- my that main board can i use the SDD to its full potential? (using win7 already) will i need a seperate controller?

thanks,

If its the same as the V2E series, you get the 2.5 to 3.5'' adapter with the drive, including screws, but nothing else. So you will need to get a SATA cable etc.

SSD's dont use much power at all, so don't worry about your PSU. Your motherboard will handle it fine also - the Vertex LE is SATA II so you wont get any bottlenecks.

I have two idental HDD's aswell as my SSD, as you have, I put them in software raid 0 for things you don't want to put on the SSD. It makes it quite snappy overall.

cool, thanks for the reply.

I am going to upgrade at some point next year, so will be replacing most parts and then just take the SDD with.

I'd do a little research here, to be honest, as you might well benefit from a controller card.

I have the same motherboard as you, the P5N32-E SLI and the nForce 680i SATA controllers don't support AHCI and so apparently the TRIM function doesn't work.

My Crucial C300 64GB SSD is also stuck in SATA150 mode at the moment instead of SATA300. I haven't been able to figure out why yet as my other normal drives don't have an issue.
