Anyone any experience with the Seagate Exos Enterprise drive? Would be for NAS use.

EDIT

Exos 5E8 ST8000AS0003 is only 800k hours mtbf and 3 year warranty

Exos 7E8 ST8000NM0055 is 2m hours mtbf and 5 year warranty

Toshiba N300 NAS HDWN180UZSVA is 1m hours mtbf and 3 year warranty and around the same price as the 5E8

WD Red WD80EFAX is 1m hours mtbf and 3 year warranty and around the same price as the 7E8

It would seem then that the 5E8 isn't a good buy.
The N300 is equivalent to the Red at a cheaper price?
The 7E8 is a better option than the WD Red for the same money.

I haven't tried Exos, but do have a WD red and a N300.

WD red (not the pro) is really slow, but also has a long positive track record.

The N300 has decent warranty but have heard the process for claiming it is clunky. The N300's claim to fame is that it's fast for a NAS drive, however it's also really loud and runs hot.

As for the 5E8, yer it's not great, having experienced the N300 though, I think that I'd actually take a 5E8 over it. I'm genuinely considering swapping out the N300 I have when I next add disks.

I found this which does a comparison of some of these drives:

At least based on the article, the 7E8 comes out as a clear winner.
However it hasn't been out for as long as some of the other NAS drives, so there is a lack of data to back up its reliability claims.
