Wondering the same thing. Considering buying one for Macbook, but worry about vibrations.

Got 2 in raid 0 for my m1730, they are quieter than my old pair of 200gb 7200 rpm drives and seek slightly louder than the 500gb 5400rpm drive in my nc10.

    Any vibrations compared to 5400?

In the xps, none, though I never got any with my old ones as they sit in hard drive cage that's screwed via rubber mounts.
Vibrations in my experience come from poorly designed hdd housing. If your current drive vibrates loads, the new one will. If it doesn't now then it's very likely that it won't with the 7200.4.

My old ST910021A 7200.1 100GB (IDE) don't suffer from vibration so I doubt these new ones do.

Thanks, lay-z-boy. I might give this one a try then. If it vibrates more then I can accept, I will just throw it into my girlfriend's laptop :)

Quieter than my 5400rpm hitachi drive.
