Its that time of year and on the way home the misses found some ice on a bend, hit 2 walls and ended up in someones driveway after knocking the bumber off their Fiat. Her L reg fiesta is a definate write off and now I'm going to have to find something cheap at a rubbish financial time of year. :(

So careful out there folks.

Cue a plethora of 'I was only going 10mph but...' threads as people desperately try to find ways to blame everything but their own mistakes for crashing into things over the next few months..

Drive according to the conditions. I'd have imagined taking extra care at temperatures around 0ºc was pretty much a given for anyone with an ounce of intelligence

Hope it doesn't sting the wallet too bad during the festive season.

Probably right, I know she drives slower than your average badger much to my frustration so putting it down to what seems to be a fairly regular spot for accidents (the woman whos drive she ended up in said it was the 5th time in 4 months) and my misses inexperience with winter conditions on country roads.

Oh well.

*edit* and it happened near your neck of the woods paradigm, she was heading back from Falybroom school (not sure on spelling) to Congleton.

Will get chance to check out the spot later, as I now have to drive her back to her school's christmas play in a hour, will be taking it steady on those dark roads past Congleton :p

Sorry to hear, hope shes okey!

I was sliding and spinning all over the show coming out of the petrol station tonight, very icey out!

I tend to go the extra mile in Snow, full 20sec behind the car in front, and dead slow.

Unless it's my turn to have a go at a hill. Which means the hill is empty right the way to the top or right the way to the bottom and then some.

Yup. Traction control kicking in an awful lot last night and only on very gentle throttle openings!

Some very, very slick and treacherous patches out there as well.

Was out in my mate's model T hotrod last night in the ice. Decided since he was moaning about it not starting the challenge was laid, got it fired up, broke all the ice off the seat and took it out for a hoon in the freezing cold. I can tell you crossplies on cold tarmac and ice don't grip much :p

Take it easy folks ;)

Sure is bad out there, came to a round about yesterday, pulled off normally, front and then rear passenger wheels spun when they went over a bit of ice. Interesting feeling to say the least but really suprised me !

Where did she stack it then? Dark roads past Congleton? They weren't bad when I went home (Barlaston > Macclesfield).

Aye. Roads were very slippery this morning and indeed on my way home. There is a small stretch of about 1/2 mile that was incredibly slippery and I could feel the steering go loose and the car was very twitchy over it all. Had a queue of people behind me probably getting irate as I was doing a sensible (IMO) speed of about 15-20mph.

What's funny is that this morning I saw some boy ricer come tearing round a corner in a village 30 zone. ******* idiot. 1. he was speeding and 2. he was driving way way way too fast for the conditions without a care in the world about crashing into somebody like myself coming the other way. Was funny watching his piddly hatch back wheel base squirming to find grip. Oh and guess what else, he had his front fogs on

It's VERY slippy out there. Had the misfortune of having to drive a Terrano 2 today and it was spinning up the rears in 3rd :o

Thanks guys.

I'm about to go to lakeside which involves all kinds of roads and the tyres aren't getting changed till wednesday.

I REALLY wanna go now :p

I'll let you all know if I stick this one in a ditch :p

see you soon!
