Seat Belt Laws

If you trust the buckle on one side, why not the other?
Just because I'd have thought the buckle would be the weakest point in a seat belt (although I've not performed any testing). On a normal belt, the bit at the bottom is stitched so I image very strong, whereas a buckle is just a button to release.

True, I guess it's adding an extra point of potential failure/stress

Walking down Broad St in Bham down town end there was a pedestrian crossing - It was raining and a car stopped -The Triumph herald behind didn't and smashed into back of car- The young lad sitting in middle of rear seat did a head dive straight between front seats.
The top of dash on a Herald was like a shelf and this kiddy hit front edge smack on with his teeth. There was a lot of blood and screeming by two women in Herald.

I think it was that day that made me think seatbelts are a good thing.

If I was a cop I would fine everyone I found not wearing a belt - No iffs or buttts.
