Seat Leon Cupra - R

They don't have Recaro's, the seats are similar but don't hold you in as good. However IIRC there were a few limited numbers with leather Recaro interior and standard Recaro's but none of the latest ones have them unless its an import.

I've sat in a car with Recaros and mine has the Seat seats( :p ) there is very little difference imo. If you are a big bloke (I'm not) then I'd recommend the standard seats as the recaros are fairly small, and can be painfully by all accounts.

is that a common and/or expensive problem?

sorry this is my last q :)

Very common, and no it's not that expensive to fix, there are 4 of them though... I think it's something like £25 a time. But you might be lucky and get one that's had them all replaced already :)

No its not, a lot of Cupra/Cupra R owners keep a spare one in the car.

SO as soon as it goes you can change it

I'll be doing that for my car, as the RAC don't carry them, and i could end up breaking down miles from a garage, heh.

The coil pack issue is across the VAG range and not just Seats. Again, from a certain point onwards the cars were fitted with ones that weren't prone to failure. Mine lasted 2 and a half years one went and they were then all replaced under warranty.

A friend had a revod LCR, as someone said straight line it was great once traction had kicked in but he hated the steering and handling of the thing so didn't keep it long.

Thats what aftermarket anti roll bars and Coilovers are for

The LCR doesn't have a rear anti roll bar as standard, retro fitting one makes a hell of a difference :D

I've got one of these, bought a new 05 plate last year. Good fun. Incidentially, I had a standard Leon Cupra (180bhp) beforehand. The R is much nicer - depends what floats your boat i guess.

I did have a coil pack failure on the cupra - no biggie, just got home in limp-mode and took it to the dealer the next day. All the new ones have the newer revision coils and are fine.

Absolutely love these cars..unfortunately could only afford the 1.6 due to insurance in the SE16 post code area being a nightmare! :( Still it looks great and goes fairly well for a 1.6 in such a big car. They are well built and fairly solid inside, though watch for peeling door handles (interior), though most were fixed under warranty. The paint is one of its weakest points :( it chips fairly easily, especially on motorway runs, though i plan to fit the cupra bumpers and get the bonnet resprayed when cash permits I think it could be a good idea to have some of that clear protective film applied just to be safe.

Servicing is generally not too bad price wise..watch out for the cambelt change on the 1.8T as i think this requires part of the engine to be droppped down to get to so works out to around £250!

Hope thats useful to you!
