Seat Leon FR Technology 150PS

If her insurance costs are that high then it's not such a bad deal. All in one leasing like that is never value for money but it's convenient not having to stump up an initial payment and you know what your motoring costs are for 2 years.

Yeah will look tomorrow at front loading a bit. £10k is interest free but the rest is 17% APR so a lot is lost in interest.

Seems an odd scheme. The £10k makes sense as it's the maximum amount an employer can loan an employee without any tax liabilities. The 17% after that just seems like a money making scheme!

Can you not take out a personal loan for the remainder and pay an amount up front plus the £10k interest free loan from your employer?

Yeah it's pretty crap now. Used to be amazing until they changed it to zenith.

For our company which uses LEX i got a quote of

SEAT LEON SPORT COUPE 1.4 EcoTSI 150 FR 3dr DSG 16 £193.81

for 3500 business and 7500 personal a year

That's with also free insurance and maintenance

Might be worth looking around.

Then again on the same website on the list it has this

FORD FIESTA HATCHBACK 1.0 EcoBoost Zetec 5dr Pre- Reg 14B £1,011.80

So until you put a proper quote in i would take it all with a pinch of salt lol!!!!

SEAT Leon 5 Door Hatch 1.4 EcoTSI 150 FR Technology DSG

Looking at a new car for the other half, and these have caught my eye on the work scheme.

£320 a month for a 2yr deal (options are 18in wheels and the Mystery blue paint) 3yr is a bit more due to higher APR and i don't want it that long.

I understand this will be the facelift version due next month. DSG isn't much more and this is the preference.

Any thoughts? it looks very good value compared to the other options, this is includes all maintenance and insurance for me + spouse.

Thanks

Whats the annual mileage.

I can't see how anyone could properly comment without knowing what the mileage assumption built in is.

We use loads of different lease companies at work and typically unless one is trying to move certain models due to manufacturer incentives there isn't typically much difference in lease costs between lease cos when comparing SIMILAR offerings.

Most of the time when you see advertised costs they are for low mileage. Typically 25-50% below the average mileage.
Guy in the office next to me got a new jag recently on PCP, his annual mileage is low 20s. Sales rep drew up paperwork based on 10k pa, even though he knew (as he had asked) the annual was way higher, he would have happily made the "sale" knowing the assumption was that the mileage in the PCP was set to the annual mileage specified. Made quite a diff moving the mileage to 25k pa.

What numbers is that based on? the 165 a month is plus vat (£198) plus £500 & 9x198. So its £7231 for 2 years, you then need to service , tax and insure it.

Tax is cheap and it will need a single service. It's also a more expensive, better car so the fact it's still cheaper just illustrates the point further.

I was questioning the number maths as I got different, its very easy to look at just monthly.

Over 2yrs you need £750 on top for tax, tyres and service, plus £1500-£2000 insurance.

Also define better, An Audi A4 is the least interesting car in the world to drive. Plus its not a DSG

We aren't comparing equal schemes either. To have a fair comparison - I should compare it now to the work scheme with a £2300 downpayment as the monthly (and total cost) would drop a lot.

Actually you don't need anything on top for tax as it's included in a lease. You'd be unlikely to do a set of tyres in a low powered car in 20k miles.

I define better in this context as more expensive as the point was purely about illustrating that better deals exist.

2k insurance over 2 years sounds insane, do you live in a particularly high risk area or something?

Comparison is simple - total cost of each offer divided by the term.

The Audi was an example, not a recommendation. I'm sure there is a Seat out there for less.

This is the best internet lease deal on a Seat Leon FR Tech 150 TSi

Monthly : 23 x £182 inc VAT
Inital payment : £546 inc VAT
10k miles pa
Including Metallic paint
cost over 2 years : £4732 inc VAT

https://www.nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk/Seat_Leon_5_Door-1-4-tsi-fr-technology-77754.htm

The DSG version adds about £32 per month - do you REALLY need it ?!?
Total 24 month lease cost of the DSG model - £5441

The problem you have is the high cost for your insurance, which brings your deal back into contention.

Over 2yrs you need £750 on top for tax, tyres and service, plus £1500-£2000 insurance
So if you went for an internet lease on the non DSG model and fixing your (high) estimates above , then you're looking at about £6.6k = saving you about £1k over 2 years :)
[Car = £4732, Insurance = £1600, tyres & service = £300, Tax is included in lease cost]

Thanks for the time of looking, you're right DSG is a lot more. Auto is the preference but would have to consider at that difference.

Anyway this thread has certainly opened by eyes to lease deals and will consider a few more options. Missus has international license and no NCB...

Isn't she required to get a UK license within a year anyway? So hopefully your second year insurance will be considerably less once she has done that.

You'd think, but then the cimputer sees you as a person who's has just started driving and it goes up another £100

Front loading the work scheme doesn't help as they raise the APR to compensate, so say if you put down £4k it ends up going to 35% APR

Shame really as the cash price of the car is £15,700.

Scheme is combination of sacrifice and deductions so the £321 is effective, (£310 with 17s)

Something I meant to post before but forgot was that typically extras are written off over the term of the lease. IE they do not assume they will demand any premium at the end vs a base model car.
So if you take a short lease/PCP it will comparatively penalise with a high extras cost per month. Short lease with low mileage will look expensive
Take a long lease with higher mileage and it doesn't look so bad.
If they hold extra value for auction at the end the lease company benefits.

Try running the quotes with just base model then add the extras one by one. You can check that way if they are assuming zero residual value or not. Makes it easier to decide if the extra is worth that much to you and also you may find a company that takes a better position on the extras you "must have".
