I stand corrected, from the radio transcript...

68 From Max Verstappen OK give the position, I think you’re going to have to give the position, Max
68 To Max Verstappen Let me know.
68 From Max Verstappen OK stay there.
69 From Sebastian Vettel He has to let me go, he has to let me go.
69 To Sebastian Vettel OK copy, stay calm.
69 From Sebastian Vettel No it’s not right. I don’t stay calm. Because he’s just blocking me into Ricciardo
69 To Sebastian Vettel Copy that.
69 To Sebastian Vettel OK Verstappen has to give you the position. Watch for Ricciardo behind. Three laps to go.
69 From Sebastian Vettel Move, move for [censored by FOM] sake.
69 To Sebastian Vettel He has been informed, he has to move.
69 From Sebastian Vettel He is a [censored by FOM], that’s what he is.
70 From Sebastian Vettel I mean am I the only one or are you not seeing what I’m seeing? He’s just backing me off into Ricciardo. [Censored by FOM]
71 To Sebastian Vettel He has to fight within, you have to fight within. Charlie…
71 From Sebastian Vettel What the hell are you talking about? He cut the chicane.
71 To Sebastian Vettel OK copy.
71 From Sebastian Vettel And now he’s brake-testing me.
71 From Daniel Ricciardo He moved on braking. I’d already committed.
71 To Max Verstappen Alright mate this is going to be investigated after the race so keep your head down. Two laps.
71 From Sebastian Vettel I mean honestly I think I’m going to hit someone. I think I have a puncture. Rear left.
71 To Sebastian Vettel Tyres are fine, tyres are fine.
71 From Sebastian Vettel He has to give me the position. End of the story.
71 To Sebastian Vettel Charlie said that… Charlie said.
71 From Sebastian Vettel Yeah? You know what? Here’s a message to Charlie: [Censored by FOM] off. Honestly, [censored by FOM] off

71 To Sebastian Vettel Sebastian, Sebastian calm down. They are under investigation I know that it’s not fair. But calm down. Put your head down and we will talk afterwards.

You can not be serious?

Realistically, what damage has SV done? He told Whiting the same thing I bet many of us would have wanted to tell him at some point over the last few years.

Go and tell you supervisor publicly to FO then and report back.

At the end of the day, Seb can't finished 3rd anymore and this would send a message to all the drivers that such behavior is not acceptable.

It was not a public comment, FOM choose to air it.......I imagine Charlie is a big boy and is not even offended.

He didn't do it publicly. He told his engineer that Charlie should FO. FOM could have easily not broadcast that message but they chose to do so.

People are acting like he got onto the podium, snatched the microphone and went on a long tirade against CW. Mountain out of a molehill.

Any other sport and shouting that at an official, broadcast or not he'd be up on some form of charge.

Luckily in F1 we've got the catch all Article 151c - Bringing the sport into disrepute.

If Toad isn't happy about it, I could easily see him being charged under that and put in front of the WMSC.

It's rather embarrassing that people are talking about it being public or not being the important part.

ALL radio, all of it, is monitored, all of it is heard. No messages go solely to the team. The question is if he should be punished for speaking like that to Charlie.. it's got nothing to do with if it was public or not. For the record, radio transcripts get published after every race... so it was ALWAYS going to be public, which makes all the "it shouldn't have been broadcast" defences even more ridiculous.

For everyone who says it's fine because it wasn't public, how would your workplace react if you internally and not for public viewing, give a direct message to one of your bosses to **** off... nothing right, because it's not public, so it doesn't count?

Any other person on this forum saying that to anyone senior at their company of business would be in serious trouble. Do I think he should be penalised, yes, not so much for the language but because he needs to be taught to behave better. He let himself get too emotional then caused a collision while he couldn't contain his anger... I do not think these things are unconnected.

he needs a lesson in keeping control and what isn't acceptable, because his behaviour as a whole throughout the last few laps was completely beyond the line of what is acceptable.

EDIT:- there is also a monumental difference between say after stubbing your toe, or a bad pitstop, just yelling out "****" at no one in particular, just an expression of frustration and specifically saying "this is a message for Charlie: **** Off" and saying it twice. This wasn't just using swear words as basic expression, he specifically used it in a statement to Charlie.

It's all rather moot.

1. He was totally justified in his anger that Verstappen didn't give the place back
2. No that doesn't justify his language toward Charlie
3. The FIA can't let such things pass and will have to censure in some way.

No, he didn't at all

This is his message. He didn't just say "omg, that guy can **** off to his engineer. Charlie and FOM monitor EVERY radio message. That message was not to his engineer at all, it was specifically to Charlie who is a senior member of the organisation(regardless of if he shouldn't have been for a long while now). Broadcasting it is irrelevant.

No he wasn't justified with his anger towards Max. Until Max is told to give the place "back" (at no point was Seb ahead of Max) by stewards he can drive his own race. Especially when earlier in the race another driver got away with the same thing.

Seb needed to cool it and drive his race.

So you're saying you've never in any job said to a colleague something along those lines?

I really don't see what the issue is and I very much doubt CW is sat at home in shock right now.

"I can't believe Sebastian would tell me to FO whilst in a moment where things are intense. How could he be so wicked".

I wasn't offended at all from the language used on the car to pit radio. I actually found it very entertaining and refreshing to hear a driver really say what he means. I would take it a step further and introduce an open radio channel so the drivers can speak to each other. That would certainly make the race weekend more interesting.

Pretty sure I heard Horner tell Max to give the place up? Which says it all if your team boss knows you have to move over even before the stewards look at it.

As in football etc one should expect to be reprimanded for using such foul language. It sets a bad example if he gets away with it. Race ban would be best as a fine would be nothing to him.

So half the grid will be banned for using foul language LOL

And? Until it comes officially from race stewards he doesn't need to do anything. As I said, driver in front of him got away with the same thing earlier in the race.....

Take his microphone off him, then do it for all the other drivers and get back to having the emphasis on racing rather than entertaining the masses with gimmicks.
