I have a budget of £100-150
Mainly be playing gta, fifa, battlefield.
It will be pairing with
8350
8gb ram
Corsair 550w
Thanks

Having gone through 2 290's with the blackscreen fault I would say stay well away from one with limited warranty.

Put the little extra and get a new 1060 3GB or 480 4GB, would scale great with what you already have.

Does the 480 justify the price difference compared to the 460?

Yes, completely different class of card.

480 would suit your current CPU well, what OC are you running on it?

stock atm.
few people saying it would suit my cpu. why is that?

You can find new 470s going for £150-160, really good cards as well, within 10% of the 480. But yeah, used 970s go for around £120-130.

+1. Find a cheap 470. They are surprisingly fast and very overclockable.

They match each other with a good balance of performance. Ideally you would push your cpu to 4.5 (which is easily achievable) so that it doesn't bottleneck a 480 in single core intensive games, but that depends on the cooler you have.

A 470 is also a good shout and would be a great match for your CPU at stock speeds.

I'm rocking a 780ti @5760x1080 playing GTA and Battlefield, assuming your only running 1 1080p monitor instead of my 3, I reckon you'll be just fine, especially if you can bag one for around £100 or so.

So you saying I should buy a 780ti?

If you play @1080p and can get one for around £100 then absolutely.

Mine is great @1080p, there's not much I can't max out eye candy wise, tbh it rocks @ 5760x1080 too but it's 3Gb VRAM hampers it a bit at that resolution and solely for that reason I'm looking to change it soon, if I had just the one monitor then I wouldn't be changing it as at that resolution I have no need to with the games I play.

Honestly, for 1080p gaming right now, any of the followings cards that you can get on budget would be great:

(Second hand: Don't spend more than 120 quid imo)
290 / 290X - Best bet, AMD supports/updates their drivers very well.
780ti / 970 - Absolutely fine, but maybe questionable future support.

(New)
470 / 480 - Going to cost more, but will have warranty, either is a great choice.
