Second hand Graphics Card

ps how badly would a q6600 bottle neck a 280x ?

Quite badly, but when you get a new cpu/board/ram you could quite happily put that 280X into that. Depends on what game you are playing, games using all 4 cores of the Q6600 will not bottleneck it as much as a single thread game, but that's the case with all CPUs I think :)

Is the CPU a G0 stepping CPU? Check in CPU-Z

will my 650 z ocz psu run the newer graphics cards ok? kinda wanting to get something for xmas :)

Took me a while to find model OCZZ650 full spec. Found it and your PSU have quad +12V rails 18A each combined 72A which is very good PSU ideal for GTX 980 which used 30A. :)

But there is one big issue with your Q6600 CPU, it will be bottlenecked with AMD 280X. I would suggest you to get Nvidia Geforce GTX 770, GTX 760, GTX 670 or GTX 680 as Nvidia driver since 337.50 reduced CPU overhead as it removed bottlenecks on older and weak CPUs like Q6600. This is the reason AMD cant do with DirectX 11 driver and then they used Mantle instead but with Nvidia driver you will get Mantle performance in every games on your Q6600. :)

Your Q6600 is slight faster than Q8200 and has lots of overclocking headroom than Q8200, I found youtube clip compared Core i7 3770K vs Q6600 benchmarks with Geforce GTX 460 posted last year in 2013 ran Cinebench 10 multithread, Dirt 3, 3D Studio MAX and World of Warcraft. I am impressed Q6600 ran games very well on GTX 460.
