Second US race due in 2013 - New Jersey

Why not just use Watkins Glen International race track?

Because most of the current crop of F1 drivers would take one look at it and say 'bugger that, I might get killed'. Bit too much of a challenge for them! Though Lewis seemed to enjoy the track when he did that promotional event for Mobil 1 with Tony Stewart :)

In all seriousness, WG would need a bit of a safety upgrade in a few places to pass muster with the FIA. They've done tremendous work to the place over the years (especially since JD McDuffie was killed in '91), but there are definitely some areas that would have the FIA going into a cold sweat.

If Danica Patrick can race there then the F1 guys can... :D:D

Plenty of US street races in F1 before...Detroit, Long Beach, Phoenix. They definitely had action with the likes of Alesi\Senna\Mansell ragging their cars around to the limit. Of course as JRS suggested they could always bring Watkins Glen back.

Another race in the US - with the size of the country and the potential market for all involved I can see why Bernie wants to go there. Shame it may be at the expense of a classic track.

Street circuit - I like Singapore, and technically Melboure and Montreal are street tracks and there great. But yes, there is always the potential for another Valencia :(

Car park - yeah, I agree, just sticking some 90 degree bends in is a bit of a waste of space. They use them well at Melbourne.

Providing this track gives us good racing and has an atmosphere I'm all for it. If it replaces Valencia on the calendar then even better :)

Just a though, what will this race be called? You cant have 2 races called the United States Grand Prix. North American GP maybe? Or Atlantic GP?

Really can't see the point of this race tbh, why go from zero races in a country which don't care about F1 to two races in the space of two years? Fair enough if F1 wants to be in America stick with the Texas race and see how that one goes!

Surely the sensible idea would have been to alternate these 2 races like Germany do, guess the money Bernies got out of them has scuppered that idea!

Still if it gets Valencia or Bahrain off the calendar it wont all have been bad :p

You know that America is huge, right? Europe is smaller and we have 9 races!

As Street circuits go it looks good. Varied corners for the most part, changes in height and some changes in scenery - something Valencia badly needs!
Lets just hope that all the concrete they will likely line the track with isn't just blank grey like Valencia :/
