Only about 7 was it a decent amount faster there tbh and the fact its loud too really puts me off, I'd rather have 2x 3870XT in crossfire unless this is about £230. I might of got one around 230 or below after checking results but its loud aswell thats put me off, I was going crazy with the 2900's fan and by the sounds of it this is something else

25-30% over an ultra is what the gx2 is supposed to deliver, looks to me if thats true then the x2 and gx2 are in for a rumble.

its beat in Crysis

Doesn't really count as it's such a poorly coded game, but I guess i'll give you that.

beat in Bioshock

Well it's CPU limited at 1280x1024, and gives the Ultra a right pasting at the higher resolutions. It certainly doesn't look slower to me, or are you just looking at the one benchmark at one resolution?

and only 6fps ahead in Call of Juarez

12% increase at 1280x1024. 19% increase at 1920x1200.

just shows you how good Nvidia are that, and how far away they are from AMD, AMD just can't compete with them, Nvidia's on another level, thats 2x cards V's only 1x of theirs, and this is all they can muster

I've never read such crap in my life.

Nope i was trying to edit to my post to say it was only 1280x1024, but my internet was playing up, and how is that crap, its bloody true, how is it not, 2x AMD GPU's barely beating a single Nvidia GPU that is over 1 year old does not show that they can't compete with them, and Nvidia is not on another level, course it does.

I can't believe its louder than a passing train, jesus!!!

Well as i said about there are instances of 25-30% over the ultra thats around the same performance the gx2 will bring and thats nvidia's next big card.

It seems like we will never be happy whatever the results are :)
We are spoiled. Everything is a process. I see Crossfire is the way to go since the sooner technologies like SLI and Crossfire are in the mainstream that will shift developers in creating their games so that they will take advantage of the technology.
We never seen people complaining cause their quad core CPU can't be fully utilized in the majority of games or applications. It was their choice to purchase it so it's our choice to purchase this card.

If you added another 20% to the 3870X2's results then a lot more people would be happy.

Ok just in today, why does it beat a Ultra but that review in main page here shows the 8800GT/GTS/GTX equal/beating it in some tests ?. and what about AA ?.

I was never going to get this card but ill await reviews from more reputable sights before passing judgement.

Eaxctly, how can that not show that Nvidia can't be touched, when their cards are over 1 year old, and are only single GPU's, when these are 2x GPU's. :)

No AA, no comparison ;)
TBH any review that doesn't test mid to high range cards @ 1920x1200 or higher with 4xAA, isn't worth the bandwith its using :)

People keep harping on about "old tech" and "multi-gpu" but like I said before, what relevance does that have?

We compare performance and price, if card a) performs the best but costs the most we expect that to be the case but if card b) comes along 25% cheaper yet 10-20% faster how can you argue against it?

It's like saying you shouldn't but Intel quad core processors because they use four cores over the AMDs two and in fact when you compare AMD dual versus Intel Quad AMD is actually only x amount slower on year old tech with 'just' two cores. Who cares, Intel are the faster cpu at the moment regardless of makeup!

Stop moving the goal posts and compare price versus performance as you always do. If it outperforms the competition running 50 cores on 5 year old tech yet costs LESS, who cares??? Naturally, the power (W) constraints need to be within reach of each other before any pedants jump in. ;)

Just had a thought, Nvidia would have delayed thier new drivers now then, as they always lob a set out when AMD release a card, i bet its those 171's as well.:p
