They should have also had crossfired 3870 to see if the 3870x2 is equal or slower.
But just from memory it looks like 2 3870 in crossfire is faster.
Either its down to the GPUS only getting x8pice each on the 3870x2 as to x16 each for 3780 crossfire.

And yes the driver is a possibility or the design just does not work.

Both of those reviews are 'official' they are just early.

I'm not ripping the card appart either, I have been looking forward to it for months.

But when two places put out reviews with very similar figures, talk about how noisy the card is, and from what I can tell the CF drivers havn't really improved much at all, it does dampen the spirits somewhat.

What do ATi think they can achieve driver wise with an extra week? They've been supposidly working solid on these Crossfire drivers for the last few months ready for this card.

Obviously ATi are in a bit of a panic if they've told everyone the NDA can't be lifted and they are working on more drivers and all the reviews must be rewritten with the new set.

Doesn't inspire me with confidence that the card is running as expected...

Have to wait and see, id be suprised if it was ever gonna be released this week, the 28th date had been going around for about a month or more then all of a sudden it was the 23rd then according to the inq it was expiring today...

Just have to wait and see when the cards show up her or when reviews from sites like hardocp show up.

Shame, but many people WANT to see AMD/ATi fail (or are just immature...not sure which) and seem hell bent on jumping to spurious conclusions :confused:

. I swear some folks are embedded in one camp or the other for sentimental/purchase justification reasons or are somehow 'financially' involved with one team or the other.

Personally, I'll wait to see proper benchmarks (even RL benchies done by OCUKers is often better than some of this stuff) before forming my own opinion on it.

Sadly some people are like that & if it was carried over to human form a baby at birth would have to come diving out of the whom forward roll/run & have the ability to speak/write perfect English or it should have been aborted.

I'm under no illusions with my amd card. I bought it -3870- because it was the best I could realistically afford without spending stupid money (and the wife would allow).

It isn't as good as the 8800gt, but to me, it is a great card for the money

Apart from Crysis it plays every game I own (stalker/bf2/bf2142/tf2/hl2:ep2/cod4/oblivion/Supreme Commander etc etc) on the highest settings @ 1280 with no problems.

I am however expecting a fair bit better when it comes to the x2. If not double the performance very close to it I would like to see on average, otherwise it is a bad investment and you may as well get a gts or gtx as that makes more financial sense.

The current Crysis benchmarks worry me though I must admit.

if no card is running crysis great , then it must be a problem with the game , come on crossfire or sil even tri sil wont run the bloodly thing ?

TBH i woulnd spend good money trying to get crysis running smooth , wait till a better game /engine comes out ie frostbite engine bf3 etc
