Thinking of getting one for your drive?

Well DONT!

They suck. Especially when you've had your car lowered, you drive up to your garage and the security post stump rips your exhaust off.

<- Soon to be £600 poorer, or £1400 poorer if manifold is creased too

Gutting :(

Much damage? Where did it break?

Look on the bright side, I bet it sounds mental now

well for u to do that id imagine u drove over it a bit quick instead of checking to see if u can clear it :P i had a problem with my 5 on kerbs it was low so once or twice hit the front on kerb getting off drive going to quick :(

Damn, unlucky :(

My dad got one fitted to his works after the van got knicked, it was about three weeks later that one of the employee's drove the pick-up straight into it after forgetting to drop it  .... aparently they are very effective at stopping vehicles

:(

All the money I've saved for cams is going to have to go on this now, which I'm "slightly" pee'd off about, cos I was close to having enough to book the car in.

Basically, I had the car on new suspension a month ago - and the guys said be carefull because it'll take a while for it to settle down and "sink". I've driven over the security post carefully ever since but it's always cleared it fine.

Today maybe the springs sank just a couple of mm more and I drove over it - car lurched back and I thought ****! Flanges are twisted, I can see a bolt has sheered off too. Exhaust is pretty much hanging off the rubbers looking sorry for itself lol :p

tbh if it's just the cat back I'll be happy(ish), but if that manifold is creased I'm going to cry. The manifold is £800 :(

It sounds like a John Deere. What was the noise limit at Donnington again? ;)

Merlin, why spend $1000 on an exhaust system? Surely you could take it for a custom system like a longlife but specify you want mandrel bends and good quality flanges and hangers?

I really dont quite understand why people are willing to pay so much for an exhaust when its just a bit of pipe with some smooth bends.... arnt you just paying for the name?

Not having a go mate :)

Its not just a pipe though really, you would be suprised with how much engineering goes into a racing exhaust system for optimum power gains.

Unlucky though mate, not nice thing to happen... im currently looking for a new downpipe due to ripping the flexi part on a speed bump :(

Kanye - I have the stock manifold and stock catback still, so come selling time - those will go back on the car and the Toda Manifold & HKS catback will be sold in a matter of minutes on the DC5 forum.

Paid a lot of money for these items but I'll get at least 80% back on the manifold and at least 70% back on the HKS.

If I bought lower quality stuff I'd struggle to shift them.

Of course thats all gone **** up today, but that was the plan. :)

R220, sure, the size of the pipe alters the performance/backpressure... but if you find out the spec's of the named brand surely you can save yourself a packet and get a custom made jobbie....

Tried that idea on my Prelude, now my exhaust has basically no backpressure and makes the car lag like hell. Wish I had gone for a good make.

:( Lovely aint it?

Always comes at a bad time too - I really need the car atm & can't borrow the Mrs. car because she works Mon, Tue & Wed each week.

I hope whatever you replace it with doesn't take anything away from Noisy.wmv and Exhaust.wmv! Those are my two favourite car videos on my PCs!

I can only imagine how much better it would have sounded with those cams, too...! :(
