Seemingly major problem at work...

If you were on probation, why didn't you mention this in the very first post?

They can fire you for 'not liking your face' within that 6 month period.

Jesus H. Christ.

What has that got to do with anything?
The lad has had his name slandered and this will follow him around forever unless he fights to clear it.
There is absolutely no chance this story hasn't broke outside the headmasters office and suspending him has made it worse.
A 10 year old makes a claim, withdraws it but Affliction is suspended so the whole school thinks he has done something.

Uhhh, no, I don't think so, reread the relevant posts.

As I understand it, the guy has been invited to resign without any stain on his character, has taken up the offer and had not completed his probationary period anyhow. Probably wisest to mark it down to experience and quietly to move on rather than fanning the flames.

The best action is to move on, should you take it down the long winded route your name will be spread and you won't ever be able to work in a school again.

That's pretty much the long and short of it.

Resigning with no mark on my record and putting it down to experience seems a good option to be fair, mainly because, If I do take legal action against them, they could quite easily mark it on my record, sell the story to the papers etc, which would just make the situation worse than it already is.

Although, saying that, I'm still in two minds about it, so obviously put that it was forced on my letter of resignation, just incase I do decided to 'take them to the cleaners'.

If you want to fight this I would write to your MP, the Dept of Education, the Prime Minister. Get all your relatives and friends to do the same. Get the kids at the school to do the same if you can. Unless you are secretly another Ian Huntley you have got to go all out to clear your name.

Well, I suppose if you want to publicly expose yourself as a suspect individual it might be a good idea... Of course realistic people look at employment legislation and how it applies before they make such a move...

That might be a good idea if it is possible to be sure that there is no record of it at all. Which won't be the case. He will be down as having lost his job due to inappropriate contact with children (which most people will interpret as him sexually abusing children) and after an accusation of unlawful sex with a child (which most people will interpret as him raping a child). It won't matter that there were never any children involved at all, the contact was just social with a few people only slightly younger than himself and the accusation was a lie and didn't involve a child anyway.

I'm not sure what would be the least bad course of action for him.

Huh.. I knew a lot of the 2nd years last year one was my best friend of 14 years, would hang with them in my lunch break and often went out for drinks with them, I was closeish with a girl at one point too but nothing came of it. They've left now but people saw me with them all the time, surprised they are sacking you over this...

On which records exactly will he "be down as having lost his job due to inappropriate contact with children"

Affliction is 19 years old, he had only been in the job for a relatively short time and he was allowed to resign "with a clean record". Whatever the rights and/or wrongs of the case, if he decides to pursue this matter there is likely to be a much higher profile record that there was some suggestion of inappropriate contact with children, regardless of the outcome.

Personally, I would suggest that he simply omits to mention this period of unemployment on any CV and gets on with his life, a wiser and sadly a more cynical and cautious individual in all probability.

So you know a couple of 6 formers! blimey what are they like 12months younger, when i worked at a school I knew a few of them and nothing.

What a joke.

Get some legal advice asap.

You say 'no mark on your record', but what kind of references are you expecting after this episode?

This is a difficult one.

Creepy teacher got locked up in my school coz of some lad saying he touched him. Everyone believed him now, then last week, he's released as the lad said he made it up. School won't let the teacher back though lol, too worried about reputation!

Well, I'm back, but minus a job....

Essentially, what happened was a yr 10 girls decided to shout out in a lesson that her mate slept with me, and the teacher reported it.

Thankfully, she admitted it was a lie, so I'm not getting arrested.

BUT because of this, and because I know a couple of the 2nd year 6th formers (I'm only 19, before anyone gets the wrong idea), they decided to give me the choice of being dismissed for inappropriate contact with 6th form students (the 3 I know I was friends with before I even started working there, and the school knew that when they employed me), or resigning with a clean record.

So, essentially, I've just lost my job for doing nothing wrong at all. :(
Haven't read the intervening pages so may have missed something, but that sounds terribly fishy.

I hope you take them to the cleaners.

that completely sucks op, sorry to hear that. any system that allows this to happen is a complete pile of ****.

i can't offer any constructive advice, just wanted to say how bad i feel for ya. hope you get a new job soon mate.

Given the circumstances of your departure I hope you were able to agree that the school/your line manager would give you decent references to help you get the next job?

P
