Sega Rally demo (Xbox360)

Touches that add to the gameplay yeah, like the terrain, what would you rather have, the terrain deforming, or fake damage to vehicles, can't have both mind...

Will you be wanting realistic damage if they re-make Crazy Taxi :)

Sega Rally is arcade to the core, I want it kept that way please, no need to move on, I want to move back when games were all about fun and how it played, not how it looked.

If I had to pick I'd obviously pick terrain but if we could have both would you oppose it? I don't see how adding a bit of visual scuffing ruins the gameplay.

I would oppose it yeah as it's a pet hate of mine, either do it right or not at all is my opinion. I would rather see the mud splatter more of the car, as it is does not seem to go on the windows etc only so far up then stops, to me that would be a better visual effect than fake damage, maybe they will add fake damage anyway.

Sega have said that their intention is that when someone crashes they don't lose too much time (like in forza, if you crash your pretty much out of it) they want it so mistakes don't cost too much so everyone enjoys the race.

If they are going to do damage i just don't think it would look right without having some sort of crash animation, in Dirt you had to reset your car, i just don't think that would suit Sega rally.

It's things like minor dents and scuff marks we're on about.

Hmmm, interesting one. I enjoyed the demo but it just seemed to be lacking 'something'. Can't really put my finger on it. Even with lots of extra courses and cars etc I can't help but think it's the sort of game I'll get a bit bored with quite quickly...

what you going on about realistic damage and dents and stuff, Sega Rally has never been about that, the old Sega Rally meant doing perfect laps and overtaking to get that 1st spot abit like Ridge Racer where if your not 3rd by last lap you normally haven't got a chance to get 1st spot

Will definitely get a decent amount of play, but it doesn't feel like a Sega Rally game to me, and has lost a lot of the old coin-op charm, possibly because it's a totally different team now? Where's the mad and catchy songs!?

I thought the Canyon track sucked also :/

i thaught the same, i do like the demo but there is something putting me off buying the full game. i just cant figure what it is

Yep I remember trying to shave off the smallest margins from the first track on the Saturn with a wheel. If you heard the gravel slide, you had lost a 100th :D

Trying to get round bends with the smallest of steering inputs.

first time i played it i hated it, the back end of the car was out all the time and it was just generally ****.

switched to in-car view and its sooo much better, really really like it.

the graphics are pretty horrific mind, but your driving that fast it doesnt matter too much.

Unsure to be honest.

I've found no reason what so ever to come of the throttle  I am driving both circuits flat for the whole course. Even hairpins just over exagerate the turn in early and go round with the back out. Even if you need to brake still leave the throttle flat. As there is next to no slowdown for hitting it doesnt matter.

Is everyone else driving like that?

I was using chase view but likely would switch to in car if I bought it.

Of course it was, this is Sega Rally. I assume you never played the original arcade/saturn games?

I think what he means is a little input and you end up correcting and over correcting so you kinda fish tail along. That seems to happen with all these games these days in chase view.

I always used chase in the other sega rally games and never had that problem. I've found in loads of newer race games that they dont seem to have spent much time working on the handling of chase view. I switch to bumper or in car and the car no longer fishtails everywhere.
