Selling my GPU and someone is asked for the GPU's serial number?

Asking for a serial number is hardly an orthodox method of finding out what card it is. I think you did the right thing by denying the request.

Sounds like he wants the P/N to distinguish what version/revision the card is.

Fairly sure KFA2 have made 3 or 4 versions of the 680 EX OC, some ARE better then others, iirc the V2 was a stinker while the V3 is desirable.

firstly there's nothing he can do with the s/n alone, but s/n also wouldn't determine what card he was getting unless he worked for kfa... thing is he wanted the p/n which is basically the name of the card

Oh dear. He wants the part number not serial number.

Did yiu ignore the part where he said P/N

If you read the thread he said he wanted the S/N. He emailed me and said he wanted the SN. I'm happy I didn't give it. Theirs other buys. I'm in no rush. someone will buy it at some point.

How can I tell which one I have?

saw this on the box KFA2 GTX680 4gb exoc atfd v1

So I would think it's a version 1? or maybe I' wrong? It doesn't say ver 1 on the S/N or P/N.

I did a check on a few sites and the only bad version was version 2. So you were right pgi947.

Easiest way is to scan barcode on box via phone, then email him the copy of the scan.
That way he can check if its the card he needs and also means there is no reason he would need the other number.

If hes not happy with that then tough.

You can probably trace the version back to when you purchased the card and where from.

I'm sure Gibbo mentioned that OcUK didn't stock the V2, they jumped from V1 to V3 (or V4) due to it being an inferior card.

So in short, if you purchased from OcUK, it 100% will not be a V2.

The guy can't really do anything with the S/N anyhow, unless its on a sticker, stuck to his card, he can't really do anything untoward.

He left after I told him I wasn't going to give him the S/N. I'm not bothered tbh I'll sell the card at some point.

Did you read on the last page where I said it might be V1. saw this on the box KFA2 GTX680 4gb exoc atfd v1
