Sennheiser gsx 1000 thread?

Are they really that good? I almost bought one a while ago but wasn't 100% convinced. Would be pairing with a pair of IE800S that i use for gaming!

For gaming and movies yes, with some light music but it's best setting it to 24bit 2.0

The surround sound from these is on a different level to everything else I have tried.

The biggest issue for me and most people was its release price I not really complaining tbh since I have definitely had my money worth.

Now you can find them much cheaper and I feel they a top buy for anyone into gaming.

Yeah it's top stuff, I just like to make sure I'm not missing out. Take warzone for example I can hear things my friends can't on their setups first on several occasion's, I can spin round and near enough shoot people parachuting in just by the audio soundstage.

Shankly, what's this setting you use for music, setting it to 24bit removes the windows 7.1 surround setting each time though?

Sadly yes you loose 7.1 in 24bit mode
It's a bloody pain setting it back to 7.1 or 24bit stereo it's really one of the downside of the unit tbh

A more powerful GSX would have 7.1 work in 24bit mode hopefully it happens.

The headphones open back? Make sure all the settings are correct within audio devices.

Hey guys, saw this thread and noticed the was a firmware update that fixes the startup issue on USB3, but when I went to run it it showed this:

Am I going mad here? It's saying that the new version it wants to install is older than the one currently installed? :S

Mine doesn't show the 844 version. I believe Sennheiser doesn't offer the 844 by firmware anymore least what I have been told. So the latest available version is still 808

OK, no-one seems to be able to help with that question (it is a bit niche!) so I'll ask a different one:

Does everyone use the alternative device "Headset earphone (GSX 1000 communication device)" for voice comms programs like Discord?

In theory the advantage of this is that you can then use the wheel on the side of the unit to adjust voice volume. But I find that it only works if you are using your headset. If you switch to speakers, it stops outputting anything sent to that device name.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this the same for everyone?

I use communication device for discord etc but I don't use speakers.

I am hoping they can take everything that is great about the GSX 1000 and build onto the negatively for a new GSX.

I love this device and wouldn't change it for anything.

In the near future I am going to get a decent desk mike. This will have the side effect of freeing me from a headset (currently have Steelseries Siberia 2.0).

What headphones would be recommended for the GSX 1000 to drive? Or, alternatively, what specs should I look for to show it would be a good match?

I generally rate Sennheiser stuff highly - I've always been very pleased with their gear, and often they have good deals on their outlet. But happy to hear other suggestions too.

Using philips fidelio X2 and rate them very highly. I'll probably be buying the X3 also at some point. Amazing headphones for all round gaming / music

This release is to resolve the issues regarding boot on AMD systems with GSX1000 and GSX1200 with certain versions of Windows 10.

Changes and Bug fixes:
- Fixed boot issue
- Fixed suspend/resume issue
- Fixed volume sync issue on some systems
- New USB Product ID (PID).

Note: To clear windows registry the USB product ID (PID) is changed in this release and therefore the user will have to setup 7.1 surround sound again.
Windows defaults to 48kHz 24 bit (HD audio), but the USB Audio 1.1 standard does not support 7.1 in 24 bit. Therefore the sample rate must be set to 48 kHz/16 bit (DVD Audio) before choosing 7.1 surround sound.
Please follow below link to setup 7.1 surround sound in Windows.

bought this last week and am having problems with world of tanks and pubg where the game freezes, I can still hear the sounds but can not do anything. I have tried uninstalling and all different usb ports but no good. Been on website and tried all suggested things but no go. Anyone know what could be the problem. I noticed on the website that the standard is usb2 but all my ports are usb 3.2 I have also updated firmware to latest. Any help appreciated. Dont know if i should just return it and get something else.

I assume you get no freezes when the GSX isn't connected?
