The argument is that if civilians were allowed to carry "guns" in Britain then the knife attacker wouldn't have been so successful. That's ignoring the fact that if that was the case then the attacker would likely up his game and use a "gun" instead of a knife of course, let along the chaos that would ensue if the Police turned up to a scene where loads of civvies had weapons drawn and we're taking pot shots at each other. It would be a nightmare.
This. its a bizarre argument . If the perpetrator had a gun , its likely that far more people would have died (if the intent was just to go on a rampage).
The good guy with a gun thing sort of assumes everyone is walking around, gun out , walking down the street on high alert and ready to shoot anyone who starts shooting.
Unless you happen to be fortunate enough to have a navy seal off active duty nearby, who can pull his gun out and take out a shooter with his first shot, you are likely **** out of luck either way.
