Servicing during a lease

Golf 7R first service - £160, although if I shopped around outside London it would have been cheaper. But as your ona lease just see if you can get a discounted price from any of the ford dealers. I am sure they would be open to offers.

Wait.... Back up a bit. Don't get any benefit from a proper inspection because you've got breakdown cover? What sort of logic is that?

He is saying you get an inspection and breakdown cover, but that he doesnt benefit from the breakdown cover.

It isn't just an oil and filter change - I suspect more is involved. Perhaps not a huge amount more but it isn't purely an oil change.

Not sure what engine the OPs Fiesta is, but from Ford Etis https://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleView.do an interim service for a 2013+ 1.0T Ecoboost Fiesta is as follows:

Check for any outstanding service actions by using OASIS and ensure they are completed

  • Instrument guages, warning control lights and horn - Check operation
  • Clutch - Check operation/adjust, if necessary (where applicable)
  • Washers, wipers Check operation/adjust, if necessary (where applicable)
  • Exterior and respective control lights; instrument cluster illumination - Check operation/condition
  • Odour filter - Renew
  • Engine - Drain oil and renew oil filter
  • Tyres - Check wear and condition, especially at tyre wall, note tread depth RF mm, LF mm, LR mm, RR mm
  • Brake system - With wheels on, check brake pads and discs for wear. Check rear brake drums - in case of abnormal fluid loss, a separate order is required to investigate and rectify. (More often under severe duty conditions).
  • Engine - Refill engine oil. Reset the oil change indicator, if fitted.
  • Tyres - Adjust pressure
  • Spare wheel - Adjust pressure, check wear - condition (note tread depth) mm
  • Tyre Pressure monitoring system - Adjust tyre pressures, reset - if applicable
  • Service record and reminder sticker - Update vehicle service record (Service book/Digital Service Record (DSR) and affix sticker to driver side B pillar)

BTW OP why do you not need breakdown cover? That is one of the good things about taking it to Ford, because it will renew your Ford assistance cover every year.

The car is already covered via my girlfriend's business. It's an included feature that I do not require, if it was an optional extra it's not something I would choose to take or pay extra for.

Fair point it being someone else's car, easy to forget that.

I have sucked it up, it's booked in this weekend. No harm checking my options but there doesn't seem to be any other than using the main dealer.

The important thing is to make sure you're paying the going rate and aren't being ripped off.

For comparison purposes, I have a Seat and Seat charge:

between 1-3 years old

£179 - 1st year service
£229 - 2nd year service

3 to 15 years old

£149 - minor service
£259 - major service

So in comparison Ford is actually slightly cheaper than Seat. It may not be what you consider good value for money. But it is the norm.
