set up help

So im helping out a friend set up their internet. They are on virgin but have an old bt hub router.

Cant get it working as the bt hub says no internet but the virgin box says its working. Is there a compatibility issue. What password would i need, the virgin one or the router one?

they dont have anything apart from the bt hub atm. dont ask me why.

So they need a new router then.
